This was our last trip before the pandemic arrived, taken in November 2019 and with it comes with so many great memories. I remember at the time when I booked this trip it was pretty non-eventful to me. Sounds bad, but that’s mostly because New Zealand is so close and similar to Australia that it didn’t really feel like a big or exciting trip, just one more to visit Queenstown before we went to Japan and South Korea a few month later (which thanks to the pandemic was eventually cancelled). In my mind, trips to the US, Europe or Asia overshadowed it, but when I look back now it was truly a special trip.
Not only was it the last trip was took before the pandemic arrived, but it was the last major trip was took as a family of two. When it was just Tobias and I (which it had been for almost 20 years before we were blessed with our child), and we weren’t even quite sure if we wanted children or not at that point. Little did we know a couple years later we would be so blessed to grow our family to three, forever changing the way we would travel. So now when I look back at these and other photos, re watch the vlog I filmed, it all carries new meaning with it.
Sometimes a trip is just a trip, but in this case it meant so much more. And I’m so grateful that even before our child turned two we were able to start creating a bunch of new travel memories together which I can’t wait to share with you over the coming months 🙂
