About two weeks ago I went on a much needed break with some great friends to visit Daylesford and Mt Macedon, and of course I decided to vlog the experience. I find it so much more interesting to film vlogs whilst travelling just because my own life is so boring in comparison hehe.
The trip did help give me a bit of time to think about my life in general right now, and if you watch the vlog you’ll know what I mean based on my rambling at the end of the video.
But to summarise, I’m starting to feel burnt out. I work an insane number of hours, and my career is really at a point where I need to invest the time and energy into it. I do enjoy what I do, but anyone who is in the industry I’m know how stressful and mentally draining it can be (there is a reason majority of people in my industry at young).
As a result I haven’t been able to create the sort of videos I truly love to make, otherwise know as Book of Fables. So to prevent my channel from being too staggent, I panicked and start putting together more “talking to the camera” sort of videos. And while I enjoy making those sort of videos, it’s been brought to my attention that not everyone enjoys watching them and quite honestly I haven’t really been bringing my A game to my videos like I used to.
The reality is I just don’t have the time nor mental energy to create elaborate videos the way I used to on such a regular basis. So instead, I’ve decided to take some time away from my main channel, take some time way from all the pressures that come with YT and just focus on slowly putting together a plan to create videos that I personally enjoy and am proud of.
If being on the internet has taught me anything is that you can’t please everyone. I’ve had a ton of people love what I do, but I’ve also had many people bash me for what I do. And there is really no way I can create content to please everyone, so I’m aiming to make content for me.
I’m not really sure how long I’ll stop posting videos on my main for, 1-2 months? Maybe longer? I’ve had a couple of pre-filmed videos that I will probably throw up since they are already filmed and slightly time sensitive.
Don’t worry, I’m going to continue focusing on my blog and vlogging channel for now! And hopefully when I come back to the main channel it will be in an exciting way π

Awww take all the time you need HT! I know what it’s like to feel the blog/youtube burnout, and it’s not good for anyone. I remember when you had 3 channels, crazy girl.
Take some time off, focus on what you love and we’ll always be here waiting excitedly for what’s to come! xx

You should be very proud of yourself for being able to be so honest. There’s no shame in admitting that you’ve bitten off more than you can chew, taking a step back and re-evaluating. Good on you.

It’s pretty easy to tell when some of the beauty YouTubers who have been at it for years now are just churning out videos to please their viewers and they’re clearly not enjoying it anymore, it’s sad to see that happen. I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and I’m happy to see that you’ll continue with the blogging π

Thanks so much Jeannie π Really appreciate the support and hopefully I’ll be able to come back refreshed π

take all the time you feel you need!
I’d just like to point out that I like your videos outside of the book of fables series. I love the book of fables but i like knowing people’s monthly favourites and stuff like that, and your videos are fun!
(that sounded a little stalkerish but whatever)

No not at all, in fact I feel very reassured to know that at least some of my viewers enjoy those type of videos so I’ll make sure to keep them up π Thank you for your comment π
