I’m not even going to address the fact that it’s been a hot minute since I last blogged here, I’m just going to blog.
Today is a pretty big day for me, it’s the end of a major chapter in my life. And this has nothing to do with makeup, travel, Youtube, Stickers or anything you see online. And everything to do with my job.
I’ve gone back and forth on whether I should or shouldn’t make this blog post for some time now, there have been major events in my life I chose not to share and others I do. And I decided, this was one I did want to share.
Today is the last day of an 11 year journey, filled with laughters, tears and a lot of life lessons. It wasn’t an easy decision to come to, but one that ultimately felt necessary for me. I could go into all the nitty gritty reasons for why the change was needed, but that wouldn’t be terribly professional nor is does it really matter at this point. And some would say that making a blog post like this isn’t really a professional move either.
Which is why I’m making it.
A new chapter is a chance for a new start. It’s a chance to reflect on the last decade and decide how I’d like to position the next decade of my life. And if I walk away with any life lessons, it would be there.
- No matter how “professional” you want to be, we are all still humans. We feel hurt, we feel joy and we have our quirks that make us unique. It’s important to acknowledge to human element in all of us, and to not forget that even that CEO you may be talking to has a human side. It may just be covered in layers of armour, but it’s still in there.
- Cherish the moments, because it’s true what they say. Moments are fleeting, both the good and bad don’t last forever (even if that doesn’t feel like the case in the moment). And you can reflect on those moments with a negative lens all you like, but it won’t change it. However if you learn from them, then you’ll always come out better.
- Never give up on your passions. A job is still a job. It’s an important part of life, but it isn’t your life. Staying connected to the things that give you passion? Whether that be hobbies or relationships? Well that’ll give you a life time of happiness.
Those are my top 3 take aways. Obviously there are so many more given it’s been over a decade of lessons, but those are probably the ones that really stand out to me.
So. Here is to new beginnings, here is to the next chapter.
