2011 is almost here and I thought this would be a great opportunity to recap 2010 at Fables and create some blogging resolutions for 2011 π I love making goals for myself (achieving them is a whole other topic) so if you’re a blogger and enjoy doing the same, feel free to steal the theme π
REVIEWS
#1 – Even though Fables technically started in 2009, it was only around April – May 2010 that I decided to make a real commit to my blogging hobby, and in return have received so many new experiences, met many new wonderful people (MBBE ladies included!) and have learnt a ton about myself.
#2 – Book of Fables has been my favourite creation for my blog. It is my personal creative outlet, a way for me to express myself using a different medium (I’m a pianist and cosplayer) and is a concept I’m so glad to have on my blog π
The best part is being told that I am able to inspire people through my makeup, I don’t think anyone has any idea how much that touches me. Book of Fables is often created, shot and edited all by myself, which is something I do struggle with but am all the more proud of myself for it π
#3 – Making the cover of The Age’s M Magazine, seriously probably the most exciting and overwhelming moment in 2010. It was the most surreal feeling walking into a newsagency that day, and seeing my mug staring back at me on the stands. If there was ever a push to become a better cosplayer, this was it!
#4 – My makeup skills have improved drastically (I’d like to think!), and with that has my reputation as a “makeup artist”. Such as co-hosting the official makeup panel at Manifest and being requested to play the role of makeup artist at photo shoots for a number of photographers and models. I’m always honoured when I am called upon by such talented individuals and I know we will have many more projects to collaborate on in the future π
RESOLUTIONS
#1 – Take Book of Fables to the next level, more extreme / creative looks, incorporate my cosplay skills more and create literally works of art each week. The sky is the limit and I truly hope I can push myself and be the best I can be!
#2 – Start to introduce more posts focused on office / corporate fashion and makeup. Outside of blogging I work in the corporate world full time and when people at work discover my blog, I often get asked questions on what brands are good, what products to use and application, so whilst still maintaining the Book of Fables, I want to branch further into more conservative, natural office styles. The fact is I live this particular style 5 days a week, but never mention it in my blog! It’s about time I do and hopefully like-minded people will find it useful π
#3 – Start making videos, I hate watching myself in videos hence why I keep putting this off! Ultimately I’d love my Book of Fables tutorials to turn into videos, not sure whether I can manage that, so I might try smaller videos first and build up. We shall see, but it’s certainly territory I want to enter more to boost my self esteem and become more comfortable with myself.
#4 – Finally, just put myself out there more. By nature I’m incredible shy, private and absolutely hate reaching out to people (I think Celeste must be tired of counselling me in this area ahaha). But I think it’s something I need to improve on to help build the blog and teach me to be bolder.
Ultimately, I started Fables as a way to express my creativity and boost my self-confidence, and it has worked well for both areas, but there is still so much more room to grow on and clearly that is exactly my plan for 2011.
Thank you so much to all my readers for sticking with me, supporting me, putting up with me and just being there for me π Like I said before, I consider my readers my friends and I owe a lot to you guys, so thank you~ I promise to work hard and do the best I can to bring you interesting content <3

And wahhhh, I didn't know you were on M Magazine ! (Not that I get the Age…) BUT STILL! THAT IS COOOOOL!! <3
*anticipates your video!*
I'm like ..really shy too so it's really hard for me to talk to people and such. I can only seem confident through typing? But when I'm speaking ..that's a whole new story xD
Celina says
Ahah thank you! I wish I looked like that all the time when I’m lazing around XDD
Ya! It was a surreal experience, so so glad my friends encouraged me to do it π You always seem so confident in your videos!! For some reason I’m always expecting an Asian accent from you when you talk, and when I hear a true blue Aussie accent I just think it’s even MORE adorable! XD
