It’s been a long while since I sat down to write a personal blog post, since revamping this blog back in July this year I have been very focused on producing content I felt would help people make better purchasing decisions around beauty. It’s been very intentional to try and focus on value add pieces of content for this blog and was also a very conscious decision to pull back on personal posts. So this certainly won’t be a common occurrence, however at the same time this was such a significant moment in my life that given how long this blog as been around for, it felt appropriate to at least have one blog post about my recent life update.
Two weeks ago I gave birth to the fourth member of our family, a baby girl and she has been a true blessing in our family. I should also add that I don’t think I ever mentioned here that I also gave birth to a baby boy two years ago, so if you’re surprised by the sudden growth of our family then that’s probably because unless you follow me on instagram you may not realise the last few years we have been actively growing our family. For almost 20 years it was just Tobias and I exploring this planet together as a couple, and we were pretty certain that it would remain that way till death do we part. But as we approached our 40s we realised that something was missing from our lives. We’d eaten at all the best restaurants, traveled all over the world, climbed the corporate ladder, bought our first home together, launched our side hustles and more. Was this is for the next 40 years? Don’t get me wrong, all that was and is fulfilling and wonderful, but personally speaking we both knew we wanted more, and so began our journey into parenthood.
Also today just so happens to be my birthday 🙂 Lucky Friday the 13th! I officially turn 41, which is a number I never thought I would openly admit to on the internet. But then again a few years ago I never thought I would be able to tell people that I’m a mother of two beautiful children, so I’ve come to learn that life can really surprise you. Not only am I grateful to be sitting here, celebrating 41 trips around the sun with my husband and two kids, I’m eternally grateful I was able to have my children at this later stage in life. I constantly read about women in their early 30s struggling to conceive and I knew leaving kids so late in life would bring about some level of heartbreak (and it certainly did) but we got here in the end naturally and I know for a fact I am one of the most blessed and luckiest people to walk on this earth.
Weirdly enough having children has changed everything in my life, and in some ways it’s changed nothing. And I think that’s really only a concept maybe other parents may understand? My soul has forever changed, but simple things like my personal passion projects have remained. My goal for this blog is to continue to grow it producing content I enjoy making. My focus is much more on luxury makeup and skincare as I always feel that thorougher non-sponsored reviews for these type of products are hard to find (I found it personally frustrating when I was searching for reviews on say Cle De Peau that weren’t sponsored by the brand) and so that’s a gap I’m very keen to fill as best I can, along with general beauty and skincare tips. So hopefully that’s something that interests you, I can’t promise I won’t sprinkle in other types of content here and there over the months, but I’m doing my best to remain consistent and focused.
