Melbourne Spring Fashion Week is over and what a week it was! I wanted to put together a “to the point” wrap up post regarding everything I managed to see as best I could so please bear with me. I took far too many photos and have taken quite a bit of time to cull them down quite dramatically to just the photos I think were the most interesting π
MSFW kicked off with a bang on Shop-Hop night, which was essentially a massive shopping night for Melbournians at all the major shopping locations in the CBD. As this was the evening my team at work at been working towards, rather than shopping, I spent more time just taking it all in, enjoy the freebies on offer and walking from shop to shop with friends. It was a very festive night and I’m keen to see what it will evolve into next year π
The following week I was invited as Mecca Cosmetica’s guest backstage to check out the behind the scenes makeup by Mecca and hair by Kevin Murphy, stunning to say the least. Soon after, the show as due to start and we were escorted out to watch designers such as Willow, Alice Mccall, Manning Cartell and more strut their latest collections.
Towards the end of the week, I attended the Emerging Students show, this time as a direct guest of City of Melbourne thanks to my day job. This show as leaps and bounds more than the previous nights, left me feeling a bit nostalgic about the late nights I used to spend sewing costumes for conventions.
All in all, it’s been a fun filled week and I’ve had a real blast. It’s still weird to know that both Fables and IBM have come together in my life this way but I’m grateful for the opportunities both “careers” have given me and I wouldn’t have it any other way π
