I was recently invited to attend a Summer 2011 Makeup Master Class, to pick up some tips on Summer makeup application. I’ve been doing makeup slightly more seriously for the better part of 2-3 years, however I’ve never attended any professional classes in my life. Everything I know is through what I see online and trial and error, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I managed to walk away from this class with some tips I wanted to share with you guys π
- Eye shadow fall out is due to 2 things: low quality product, or an overloaded brush
- Softer brushes are better for blending, they pick up less product. Denser brushes are better for packing on colour.
- When doing someoneβs eye makeup, always use two hands. One that rests below their eye and one that cradles their head.
- Always use a mixing medium when liquefying pigments, water will only cause the pigments to separate. The pigment should turn into a paste.
- When applying mascara, the first stoke should be above the lashes, then go from underneath. Be sure to make zig zag like motions moving up, and get as far into the base of the lashes are possible to give them more lift and fullness.
- Soft pencil eyeliners make great eye shadow bases, but when applying, use light feathery strokes to avoid tugging on the delicate eyelid skin.
The “how to apply makeup on others” tips spoke to me so much more as personal space has always been an issue with me (I dislike people invading mine, and so am in turn self conscious about invading the space of others).
But it seems to be an almost non-issue when playing the role of makeup artist (though I personally recommending chewing a piece of gum to avoid bad breath π ), and so for all my future models, be prepared for me to get more “in your face” lol. Lame pun completely intended!
Special thanks to Justine and Carmen for putting together the event π I had a wonderful time not only picking up some new makeup tips, but catching up with my beloved MBBE girls~ <3

Yikes! Hope my breath didn’t kill you that day π My apologies if it did π
It sure was fun, wasn’t it? Sure you can learn makeup tips from Youtube, trial and error, etc, but when you’re with the girls, somehow it just makes it so much more fun π
