I may be a long time (say 7 years) collector of designer hand bags, but for some reason designer shoes have always been uncharted territory for me. I’d say the main reason is because the practical side of me didn’t think it was worth spending so much on something you are essentially walking on (and I’ll be honest, I still kinda feel this way despite loving designer shoes now). They tend to be the item of clothing that wears out faster and before you know it, you’ll need to replace it with a new pair. At least for bags, if you look after them, most have a tendency to last a lot longer (if not several generations!)
But it’s so hard to ignore the lure of designer shoes, they are just so decadent, stunning and as I branch further into the fashion world, they can really add a touch of class to any outfit.
So a few years back I made a promise to myself. If I met two milestones in my life, I would allow myself to purchase my very first pair of luxury shoes, which would not surprisingly be the classic black patent pair of Christian Louboutins. Fortunately I met those milestones last year and so I decided on my last USA trip, I would make my first purchase in New York. It just seemed appropriate given my intense love for that beautiful city that never sleeps!
To add just that bit more sentiment to these shoes, the first time I wore them out (and trust me that was a hard thing to do knowing I’d scuff up the sole) was to dinner on the 11th year anniversary π Celebrating the last 11 years of my life~~
So there you have it, my first pair of luxury shoes and I can tell you, especially because they are so much cheaper than than handbags, they are addictive. So addictive I may have picked up a second pair from a different brand 15 minutes later π But that’s for another post π
