I’ve been eyeing the Pure Chromatics from YSL for quite some time now. I’ve admittedly not dabbled a whole lot in the world of YSL, though I am a massive fan of their Touché Éclat which I use religiously every time I catch myself sporting dark circles.
But back to this palette, this particular palette was released as part of YSL’s Summer 2013 collection. I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out the Pure Chromatics palettes for myself, plus these particular colours are incredibly wearable! The perfect colours for everyday~
As you guys probably already know, I’ve not a big fan of the dry/wet shadows, I just think the additional step of wetting your applicator / brush is unnecessary. Unfortunately with this palette if you don’t wet the applicator, you’ll find yourself with sheer pigmentation. The deeper colours are not too bad, but the softer colours are hardly visible on my swatch and were difficult to photograph.
So when used wet, this is an amazing eye shadow palette. But really? Wet? I wouldn’t recommend the Pure Chromatics unless you do enjoy applying wet eye shadow. Personally? I wouldn’t have the time nor patience to wet my brushes each time.
However when wet, the pigmentation is incredible, you can see the massive difference in the swatches provided. Similarly, the shadows just glided across my eyelids with minimal effort. With primer, this eye shadow lasted me all day long without any creasing.
