I know I’m a little late to the party, but better late than never right? Today I have the not so new Tom Ford Lip Shines for you to review. If you want something to compare it to, think of Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shines and I personally think they are pretty close. There are some notable difference between the two formulas, but generally speaking they appear to sit in the same family.
These have a stickier formula in my option, which means the wear time is a bit better than Chanel. The pigmentation is average, a little more than semi-transparent which is what you’d expect for a lipstick like this. Depending on the colour you select, it can sink into your lips if you aren’t reapplying to keeping your lips well moisturised, which makes me think these would work better with a lip pencil as an initial base.
On their own I found they lasted a good 3-4 hours before I needed to reapply, they do feel quite moisturising, though I wouldn’t replace your lip balm with this. As for the smell, they have a very sweet vanilla scent, similar to MAC Lipsticks.
Out of the two shades, I feel like Smitten is probably my preferred choice, it’s more wearable and doesn’t have that “Barbie” look to it. I’m not a bit fan of bubblegum pink lips for myself personally.
All in all I quite enjoyed these lipsticks. I’m a huge huge fan of moisturising lipsticks because my lips are perpetually dry on their own 🙁 and I loved these all the more for their good pigmentation (just slightly better than Chanel in that area).
You can purchase them online for $48US.
