Before we get on to the review, this is a guest post by my dearest friend Sefie who shares my unhealthy love for makeup, she is an amazing makeup artist in her own right (most amazing Edea evar)~
Sefie is also quite the asian cosmetics / skin care expert, is an amazing cook AND she’s my official Fables proof reader (plus a gazillion other things), seriously is there anything this girl can’t do? I’ve nicknamed her my Asian Cosmetics Correspondent π
To top it off, her skin tone is quite a few shades darker than my own, so hopefully with her help I can reach out to readers who aren’t just NC15-20. Enjoy! π Hoping to feature Sefie more regularly on the blog <3 I know you guys will love her as much as I do π

Hiya, it’s Sefie again~ This time, Celina has very kindly let me loose on Fables to talk about the shared love we have for BB (blemish balm) creams. Most BB creams are developed for lighter Asian skin tones and only come in one or two shades, but some of us darker girls (I’m an NC 42), still want the benefits of SPF, skin care and lightening with light coverage. So I have bravely gone forth to sample a couple of the creams available to us here.
This was the second BB cream I’ve tried and loved (the first was one I picked up in Japan, and I couldn’t read the name since it was all in kanji!). It’s very light and has a faint powdery scent. I actually started off using this as a primer under my foundation, but after using it for about a month, I’ve found that my skin tone has evened out enough for me to just use the cream, concealer and loose mineral powder to set.
The consistency is mousse-like, nicely thick when you squeeze it out of the tube, but blends smoothly with a sponge or fingers. I wouldn’t recommend a brush for this because it does tend to sink into the fibres more than your skin.
After about 10 hours, I still feel I need to blot, though I’m quite obsessive about having a matte face. If you don’t mind a dewy complexion, then you could probably get away with not blotting at all.
Once this tube finally runs out (*sob!*), I will definitely repurchase it again. I’ve used it nearly 5 days a week for about 6 months, and I’ve still got about a third of the tube left. Great value!

Does it look ashy on skin Celina or Sefie?
I have tried a few BB creams and none seem to work because I look pale and ghostly ashy… not the look I was going for at all.
Celina says
All the swatches were on Sefie’s skin tone π Yeah, I’ve found BB creams aren’t very friendly to people with even slightly darker skin tones π

This one actually has a bit of colour to it, but you do need to blend it a bit more than you would for normal foundation. I think it’s best matched for NC30ish, but since I’m putting a mineral or tinted powder to set it, it works great for me (NC42). Of course, don’t expect it to provide actual coverage (no BB creams do that), so use a light hand.

Lol dude! Do not even get my started on the stupid prices we have to pay in Australia, not just with skincare / makeup, but with pretty much anything! It’s absolutely stupid, hence why online shopping is awesome!! π
yawen says
Haha.. true true.. that’s why sometimes we really have to turn to online shopping..

I have the most terrible, oily, and acne prone skin. I am 14 years old and a NW15 and below. I am extremely pale so it’s hard to find things to cover my skin without looking off with the rest of my body. I have to blot within the first hour of any makeup or BB creams that I wear and it takes off the coverage on my acne and scars. Please tell me that this will help. I am so desperate to find something that can make me and my skin happy π
Celina says
Oh π Lovely, I wish I could give you a sure-fire answer, but I’m not in a qualified position to do so. I do know however that you are still 14 years old, I suffered from acne prone skin too when I was 14, and it got better! It gets A LOT better naturally. Now I’m 28 (ugh, I’m double your age!!) and my skin is perfectly clear. So trust me, it WILL get better. If you want to use something to cover your skin in the mean time, perhaps try a dry concealer or even foundation designed for oily skin.
I wish I could just tell you to enjoy your teen years and not worry so much about a “problem” that is only effecting you because you are going through hormanal changes, but I know that’s probably of no comfort π I hope my tips can help you <3

celina or sefie would you girls mind to help me, what is the best loose powder with spf to cover up my face after putting the bb cream on ? remembering the bb cream has no spf :$
thankyou thankyou π
Celina says
Ooh… Hmmm, I personally use MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural, though it doesn’t contain any SPF. But tbh I put on sunscreen underneath my BB cream before applying which I’m thinking may be enough?

hei girls… I am sorry for meddling your conversations, but I want to share something that troubled my though… please do not differentiate product by price. Are you sure cheap price for the same product is authentic? although we can not guarrantee that the more expensive one is the authentic one. But, as I see many the pictures at onlineshop, gmarket or reviews that got cheaper price, HAS DIFFERENT DESIGN from the official website. I can not judge that they are fake or imitations, but just be aware and becarefull π
btw, nice review Miss Celina… π
