Whilst shopping around the MAC counters for the Venomous Villians collection I saw these babies sitting at the counter and couldn’t have snapped them up faster!
Both lip glosses are pretty opaque and as you will see below, really don’t need their lipstick counterpart for any help at all. They are great stand alone glosses (and the lipsticks hold up pretty well on their own too!) I’ve swatched the lipstick version alone, then the lip gloss on it’s own, then finally the two together.
I find the lipstick on it’s own extremely wearable in a corporate environment (I wore this to work many times), the gloss probably not as much. It’s much more opaque and can feel very pink “barbie” and tends to crease on my lips. If you like bold colours this is great but it’s not subtle. The formula is like any other of MAC’s lip glosses, smooth and quite sticky, with the traditional vanilla scent.
The lipstick and gloss together isn’t hugely different to the gloss on it’s own so I don’t really see a reason to combine them as they work great on their own and offer two different looks.
Cyndi on the other hand, I think this is my favourite out of the two.
The colour just suits my complexion so much more, and the lipstick like Lady Gaga is insanely wearable in a conservative environment or for those who don’t want anything too stand out. Thing is, the gloss is pretty wearable too. I’d say the colour is a coral red, which is one of my favourite cheek and lip colours this spring / summer. Personally I find corals to be very youthful and fresh.
Again, like the Lady Gaga gloss, formula is the same, same scent and I’d say same result when you combine the lipstick and gloss together. I personally don’t see a big enough difference to justify appling both products at the same time, when using them separately can again offer two different looks.
If I had to choose only one product, my vote would go to the Cyndi lipstick. It’s so versatile and gives me a polish youthful look. Certainly my favourite.
If you guys have managed to grab these glosses, let me know what you think. These items are seasonal, so they’ll be around for another 12 months. They retail at $34AU each and can be purchased from the MAC website, Myer, David Jones or any MAC pro stores.
The lipsticks are also still available (not sure for how much longer) at $35AU each. Keep in mind when you buy a Viva Glam product from MAC you are supporting their AIDS fund too, incase you needed another excuse to splurge at MAC π (I need an excuse NOT to splurge at MAC)

The Cyndi lipstick is GORGEOUS! I wonder if it’ll work as well on my skin tone.

I got suckered into buying the Cyndi lipgloss by the girl at MAC when I went to pick up VV goodies (first nice MAC MA in ages!), but I like it a lot. I’m not a big lips girl, whenever I wear bright lip products I feel like my entire face is lips, but this is a happy medium!

It is a great colour π I can never really pull off gloss much for day to day, maybe cause I tend to always be snacking on something and so it wears out too fast @_@ that and I’m unco, and my hair always ends up in it!

i like cyndi too. the lipstick and gloss look great by themselves or together.

That seems to be the favourite colour! π Couldn’t agree more π
