As if meeting Michelle Phan wasn’t amazing enough, Lancôme gifted each of us with one of their latest Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Violet Magnetique.
The first thing that caught my eye was how unique the colour combination was! I don’t think I’ve seen a palette like this before, a great mixture of metallic shades.
The pigmentation for this palette in comparison to some of the other shades from this same line is much better, honestly I find Lancôme performs really well for more shimmery shades, not so much matte. This entire palette is was mostly shimmer shades so no surprise this is a great palette to work with. There is one matte palette used for highlighting which I found was not the best, but much better than their previous palettes with matte shades. It takes fewer swipes and swirls of the brush to pick up the colour.
The rose gold shade does tend to leave a bit of fall out if you are not careful, so I would apply sparingly at first and then build upon it.
You’ll notice the example shots I tend to give are usually pretty sheer. For the most part that is because I often end up going out before I take these shots and so want something more wearable, but with most palettes, a few extra dips of the brush will give you a much more dramatic / intense look.
If you’re interested, try hitting up your local David Jones or Myer, else I know Lancome does sell it online.

That isn’t the MP palette. The palette you mention was the replacement in the glamour eyes kit for the crap Chic by Chelle palette which was pretty much panned by all reviewers. The Midnight Rose palette was by Aaron de Mey and part of the 2012 Fall collection.

Hi, thanks for your comment. You may have misread the post but I only said I received this palette at an event for Michelle Phan, I never said it was a Michelle Phan palette 🙂
