I do love good Asian cosmetics, I don’t really discriminate to be honest. I love following the latest trends in the USA, Europe and Asia with regards to makeup and like to make sure I’m some what on top of what’s coming out and being released.
When I first saw this Kate mascara I thought it was quite interesting, good at potentially combing through the clumps between your lashes when you apply your mascara.
What I didn’t count on was how… odd it felt to apply it. Perhaps I’m just far too used to the traditional mascara wands, but this didn’t feel natural to me. I had to be very conscious of how I was holding the entire tube so that the angle of the brush matched that of my lashes.
One advantage of this design however is that I was able to get right at the roots of my lashes. Too often I notice most people only apply mascara to the middle half to tip of their lashes. But with this, you could coat your entire lash.
But one issue I had with this was if you don’t wipe down the mascara wand after each use, it will get quite a bit of build up and the application will no longer be smooth. You run the risk of applying clumps of mascara on your lashes and it just looks a bit messy.
It’s a cool product, it’s interesting, but it won’t replace my traditional mascara wand which is a real no brainer to use.
As for the formula itself, it was quite good. Not good at helping give a bit of a curl to my lashes, but great at giving them volume and length. And last the day it did, but so does a range of other mascaras.
So I won’t be re-purchasing this, but if you’re keen, you can purchase this for $120HK at Adambeauty, which works out to be around $15AU.

Interesting brush! I think I’ll stick with my normal wand too

It’s cool to see what weird brushes companies can come out with!

I got one on my last trip to Malaysia! Still in its box though. Try getting your hands on Kate eyeliners.
