Gel liners are my ride or die liners! I simply cannot imagine completing any eye look without them. And so each time I see a brand come out with their own version, I snap it up!
I think having a weakness for Jill Stuart is pretty understandable. The packaging alone is just stunning! It’s so unique and gorgeous, but if you want to really see it stand out I’d recommend checking out either an eyeshadow palette or blush. The package for those are incredibly intricate.
Hands down, I have to say that the Jill Stuart Lasting Gel Eyeliner is so far the best gel eyeliner I’ve tried. And that’s coming from someone who has been through three entire pots of gel liners (MAC, Bobbi Brown and Stila) so I’ve tested liners right to the end.
And here is why.
MAC and Stila had amazing pigmentation but the formula would dry up way too fast! I’d either be left scraping off the top layer (so wasteful!) or drowning the product in MAC Fix+ overnight to try and “revive” the product.
Then I moved on to Bobbi Brown, which again had amazing pigmentation and it didn’t dry at all! After 2 years of daily use, the pot was still just as moist as the day I cracked it open. The problem is, it was a bit TOO moist and so when you apply it with too much pressure it can come off streaky. Generally, needs a few layers to build up the pigmentation and hide the streakiness.
All the issues mentioned above? Not an issue when it came to the Jill Stuart version. Perfect pigmentation, doesn’t dry out and isn’t streaky! And the formula lasts for the entire day till you are ready to remove your makeup. The shade I’m using is called Black Cat. You can be sure I’ll be picking up a second one the next time I visit Asia.
What are your favourite gel liners?
You can pick one up for yourself for ¥3400 (~$40AUD) at Ichibankao. However it works out a lot cheaper if you buy it within Asia in person!
