When you put on as much makeup as I do for my Book of Fables, you need an effective and fast way to remove makeup. Especially for some days when I shoot 2-3 different looks (I try not to though, else my face starts to look like a tomato X_x;) Wipes are perfect for this! These are the key things I look out for:
- Remove thick layers (~5) of makeup within 1-2 swipes
- Actual wipe is smooth and soft on skin
- Subtle to no scent
- Skin feels clean after use, no stinging
- Gently removes eye makeup (bonus if it works on the waterline)
- Only one wipe should be needed for the entire face
So unfortunately Garnier failed to hit the mark for most of these. For people removing everyday makeup looking for a bit of exfoliation, this might be what you’re looking for.
For me, this just didn’t cut it. It takes quite a few swipes to get thicker makeup off, and since the sheets already have a bit of a roughness to them, I feel like I’m over exfoliating my face. And I really don’t want to use my makeup wipes as exfoliators (I have a bunch of other products to do that with!).
It doesn’t do a complete job at removing all my makeup, I find myself having to go over smaller areas like my eyes with a cotton bud dipped in makeup remover solution / moisturiser to remove my eyeliner / mascara. Not cool.
What it does have going for it, is it doesn’t have any scent and my skin isn’t left with any oily residue at the end. So it works, but probably only for much lighter makeup.
