I will happily admit that Estee Lauder probably make one of the best full coverage foundations I’ve ever tried, calledDouble Wear Foundation. However some people (including me) tend to find Double Wear a little too heavy for regular use. Sure, this is great for photo shoots or special events, but on weekends when I wear face products I’m looking for something light and breathable.
After hearing some of the MBBE rave on about this product I thought I’d give it a try for myself. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I wasn’t having the best of skin days, which really helps demonstrate how much coverage even the light version has.
Estee Lauder introduced their Double Wear Light Foundation, designed to give similar coverage as the Double Wear but with a lighter formula.
You can see in the photos below, the coverage is actually still pretty decent! I had a couple of spots on my forehead and they disappeared nicely! With some concealer and powder, you’d hardly be able to tell they were there.
The formula is very similar to Double Wear, but easier to blend out and smooth over the skin and as a result you get less coverage.
In terms of longevity, I didn’t find that this foundation lasted as long as I was hoping. After about 8-10 hrs, I noticed my T zone getting oilier and the area around my nose starting to wear off. Nothing a bit of powder to touch up couldn’t fix though.
All in all, I do love this formula and do recommend it to anyone who already loves the original Double Wear but requires less coverage or anyone who wants something that feels a bit lighter.
For those curious, my skin is normally between an NC15 or NC20 and in the photos I’ve used the colour 1.0.
You can purchase this online for $37US or directly from the Australian Estee Lauder website, David Jones or Myer for $50AU.

Hey, I was wondering if you tried the 0.5 shade? also is the 1.0 a perfect shade match?

I haven’t tried 0.5 shade unfortunately, just 1.0 and it works great for me 🙂
