You may or may not have noticed that yes, I’ve been a little quiet on the blog lately. You know why, everyone who knows me knows why π Ah, the pains of being an adult! Moments like this always make me think of my University years, when I had all the time in the world but no money to really do anything. Now, I make money, but have no time to enjoy it π Such is life~
That said, I’ve still been keeping up with the latest makeup releases / trends etc, just lacking time to share it all with you guys! So please excuse how late this post is, I’m sure everyone has already heard about Dior’s single eye shadows!
When it comes to single eye shadows I’m in two minds, day to day I tend to lean towards palettes as they are just easier to use and singles make it a bit more time consuming. That and I find myself always wanting to depot single eye shadows, still I don’t think I would ever depot a Dior shadow so decided it was safe to give it a shot.
These shadows are similar to what you’ll find in most Dior 5 eye shadow palettes. Generally pigmented but I wouldn’t go so far as to say these are buttery smooth. Certainly not as pigmented as the Tom Ford quads, but definitely more impressive than quite a few Chanel quads you’ll find.
The two shadows I initially purchased (I’ve since picked up a 3rd shade) are Nude and Choc Clair. These are the types of shades I typically wear everyday. A nice neutral skin toned matte colour to first apply as a wash all over my lids. Then I’ll take a matte taupe to apply into my crease to give my eyes a bit of definition.
Nude is a yellow toned skin coloured matte shadow, and Choc Clair is a taupe with some shimmer to it. It’s a pretty subtle shimmer so even when used on the lids it’s not entirely obvious I am wearing shimmer. None the less because I ordered these online and hence couldn’t test them before hand I ordered a 3rd shade very similar to Choc Clair which is completely matte! (I’m an all matte person during the working week).
These shadows are very good quality, I don’t find myself reaching for them a ton because I mostly opt for palettes in the morning as I like to adjust my shadows in the morning which means dipping back into several colours as I go along. But regardless these are very good and I would recommend them to anyone looking for good quality neutral shadows that are suitable for daily wear.
And whilst I don’t personally use the applicators provided with most products (I prefer brushes), I love that they give you two applicators for each shadow to give you more options and use time π
If you’re interested, you can purchase these online for $29US each or for $47AU each at a Dior counter at Myer or David Jones.
