Dior Forever Skin Perfect is a brand new multi-use foundation stick from Dior that comes in 18 different shades. Dior claims that this foundation is both breathable and hydrating, it has build-able coverage and has a beautiful blurring effect that has both heat and humidity resistant wear. It can be used as either a foundation or as targeted concealer. It pairs very well with the Dior Forever Skin Contour. You can pick one up for yourself online for $99AUD.
Packaging
The Dior Forever Skin Perfect was released at the same time as the Dior Forever Skin Contour (which I’ve reviewed here) and my understanding is the two were intended to essentially pair well together (along with the release of their Dior Rouge Blush Colour & Glow range which I’ve reviewed here). So it doesn’t come as a surprise that the package between the foundation stick and contour are almost identical except for a few clear differences since as the foundation stick is in a glossy packaging instead of matte like the contour. The package is sleek and elegant, very inline with Dior’s branding.
One thing I wanted to note is unlike most products that you roll up gradually or continuously, this one kinda works in “steps”. So each time you try to twist up the product, you need to do a full half twist for it to click into place, else it will sink back down. It’s a really small detail, but I wish I could just gradually roll it up just a tiny bit so I wouldn’t need to keep rolling the product back down after use to avoid hitting the lid inside since each “step” rolls up too much to recap immediately. Hopefully that makes sense!
Scent
Ah, this is something that really hit me in the face the first time I was testing it out. The scent was strong! That floral elegant Dior scent, so if you’re into that stuff then awesome, but if you’re like me someone really sensitive to scent it can be an issue. Fortunately if you’re applying this to your face, the scent disappears pretty fast. The scent was an issue for me because I tend to swatch products before using them and the scent lingered on my hand for quite some time, but I assume that’s more a beauty reviewer issue than a normal user issue.
Wear and Longevity
This is definitely where the product shines for me! As mentioned a couple times now, when I wear makeup I wear it for at least 16 hours (basically the entire time I’m awake as I apply makeup first thing in the morning after my skincare) and this lasted so well! I will say I had to really sheer this product out because I have purchased a shade that was a bit too light for me (0N) and the cheap part of me didn’t want to fork out another hundred dollars to get another shade that MIGHT match me (as I purchased this online, it’s currently at the time of this blog post not available in person so I can’t test the shades) so I just made it work.
In terms of coverage, very buildable! You can go sheer, apply to a few points on your face and blend out, or go in with a heavier hand to get full coverage. One of my favourite things about stick foundations in general.
Skin Type?
The formula was on the slightly drier side though, so I think if you have really dry skin that doesn’t take to skincare well, I wouldn’t recommend it. I know it mentioned hydration in the product details, but I found it a little challenging to blend over dry patches on my face if I applied my makeup after my skincare had dried down. So highly recommend if you do have dry skin to apply this after using a good moisturiser as it’ll work a treat after that.
Final Thoughts
Due to my colour selection, I tend to use this more as a foundation for my high points and then use a darker foundation for my shadow areas. I think I’d probably be inclined to use this all over the face if I picked a better colour match which I might do once this product becomes more readily available so I can test it in person. All in all though, I enjoy the formula since I tend to only wear makeup after my skin routine so my face is fully hydrated and the longevity and coverage is amazing!
[…] of wear, I can’t say it lasted as long as some of my other stick foundations like say the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Foundation which has some really beautiful coverage that lasted all day long for me. By the end of the day, I […]
