One of the best things about travel is duty free, and the best thing about duty free? The duty free exclusive palettes ๐ I’m such a sucker for them, even though I probably don’t use them as much as I could and should.
I picked up this palette at the recommendation of Val, whom tweeted about it after she returned from her Europe trip, so on my way to Rome during a stop over at Dubai airport I decided to pick this up!
This palette is designed to cater for all the needs of your eye area, it includes three neutral coloured eye shadows, a black gel liner and a brown brow gel, two applicators, a pair of tweezers and a small tube of Diorshow Extase mascara.
The eye shadows are nice, but not great. They take a little bit of work to get a sheer to medium level of pigmentation. All three eye shadows have shimmery finishes, the colour selection seems a little strange to me, not as neutral toned as I expected for a “eye essentials” palette. I was thinking maybe colours similar to Chanel’s Prelude palette might have been a better choice, but that’s my personal preference.
The gel liner and brow gel are however nice, they are both creams but almost dry. Which felt weird because they actually applied extremely smoothly.
Nothing special regarding the applicators, the tweezers aren’t half bad either. Not as great as Tweezerman Tweezers as they tend to snap the eye brows if you don’t grab the hairs properly at an angle, but otherwise for a travel palette it isn’t too bad.
Finally the mascara, I’m not familiar with Dior’s Diorshow Extase mascara but I didn’t have any complaints. They helped lengthen and volumises my lashes a decent amount, and I really liked that it had no scent, unlike the cult favourite Diorshow which I dislike.
Generally, this works well as a travel palette. Would be even better if it came with some sort of eye primer.
Unfortunately I cannot remember how much I purchased this for, all I know is I think it is only available via duty free and I know Dubai airport is not the only airport that sells them ๐
