You would think that by being a beauty blogger I should have the perfect arsenal of products for any situation! Especially for a morning skin care routine, and yet the reality is no I don’t π
For the longest time my morning skin care routine has been painfully simple because my night time layering technique just doesn’t seem to work as well with SPF. Products tend to roll and I often look like an oily flaky mess. So I keep it simple, but simple often means I end up skipping essential steps.
However since Clinique kindly provided me their latest Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, I can safely say that at least one major issue with my morning routine has been finally resolved!
So, let’s break this down!
I start of the morning by cleansing my face then applying toner (if I’m lazy just toner), then I just go straight for the eye cream and moisturiser with SPF because anything else doesn’t work. I constantly have tried to apply SPF50 sunscreen on top of my moisturiser but I -always- get rolls, and look like a hot mess π Even after I give my moisturiser 30mins to sink in or use a primer between or whatever else, I’ve tried it all and probably 5 different day time moisturisers, some with and others without SPF.
Not anymore, I’ve replaced my old moisturiser with DDML and it’s magic! My sunscreen now goes on without ANY issues! I don’t even need to wait for DDML to sink in if I’m running low on time, I just apply it, throw on sunscreen and I’m done~ I can’t tell you how happy I was to find this formula just worked for me!
If you were a fan of the old formula, then I’ve been told the key difference is a range of new ingredients designed to improve the overall quality of this moisturiser, such as Hyaluronic Acid to improve moisture holding, Glycerin which attracts moisture to the skin and Urea, which is a naturally occurring moisturising ingredient already in our skin.
Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to try Clinique’s previous DDML formula, as this is their new and improved version, but I can say this version is amazing. It has a good consistency, not too watery but not too thick either (I tend to save all the thick stuff for night time), it blends into the skin beautifully and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and supple for the entire day till around evening.
To apply, I usually need about two pumps for my entire face and neck. I love that this formula has a pump, I wish more products did because it makes it so easy to dispense the perfect amount.
Oh, and one other thing about this product that just makes me so happy is the price! Clinique are attempting to gradually lower their prices to remain competitive, which as you guys know is a massive deal to me π So if you are interested, they retail at $29AU for 50ml and $49AU for 125ml from Clinique, or the counters at Myer or David Jones.
But before I end this blog post, I did want to share with you a few photos I took of the new Mecca Maxima out at Highpoint Shopping Center who helped celebrate the launch of Clinique’s newest DDML.
The evening was amazing and the store was dangerous to my wallet, Mecca Maxima contains so many fantastic brands such as Bobbi Brown, NARS, Soap & Glory, Hourglass and more π I had a fantastic time that evening and walked away with a couple other goodies I am currently reviewing for you all now π So stay tuned!

I may just have to pick up a new bottle of this! I used DDML for a few months a while back, and I went through two bottles. I liked it (especially because of the pump & travel size options), but I didn’t love it. Once it absorbed, it felt like a film was on my face. It’s hard to explain, but it didn’t feel right. Your review of the new formula has totally sold me though, especially given how good the price is. I’m really tempted to give it another try!

Oooh! See if you can get a sample first π

Maybe you should try the dramatically different moisturizing gel… It’s like your skin soaks the entire product and a few seconds after you have smooth skin but i’ts like you have nothing on.

Awesome thanks! π
