Summmmmer tiiiime~ (in the states π ), not here unfortunately! Can you tell how bitter I am over the cold miserable weather? π I’m a Spring / Summer person through and through!
That’s besides the point, today I want to review a product from Chanel’s latest Summer 2013 collection, their eye shadow quad in Metamorphose. This palette unlike most of Chanel’s USA palettes comes in baked form rather than the traditional squared pressed form. Unfortunately I really do prefer the pressed form many times over the baked version thanks to its smooth consistency and amazing pigmentation.
Baked aside, this palette wasn’t too bad. Given it was baked, it performed pretty much as I expected, it gave off a bit of a gritty powder with only okay pigmentation. Used wet they generally apply better, but honestly I don’t see the point in the whole “applying eye shadow wet” trend because it feels like adding an extra step into the makeup routine for the sake of it. But that’s just my personal stance on it.
The colours themselves are nothing short of gorgeous, not your everyday wearable colours but beautiful none the less! Very in line with a tropical oasis theme for Summer, and colours I definitely see myself wearing if I were on vacation π To be honest, if you only stick to one or two of these colours and really blend it out, you could get away with it within a more conservative environment, all depends on your method of application.
If you’re interested, you can check out this palette on the official Chanel website for $59US.

I don’t like using eyeshadows wet either. The way I see it, they should already have good colour payoff and perform well even when dry. These colours are very pretty, but not pigmented enough for my tastes.
