Time for another Holiday Gift “review”, I use review lightly because I find it almost impossible to give a solid review for sets like this. Too many variables, but I’ll do my best to give an overview.
FYI, You can purchase this palette from Benefit’s website at $36US or check out the Benefit counter at Myer where it goes for $69AU.
Her Name was Glowla is one of the Holiday gift sets released by Benefit for 2010, and for someone who has never bought a Benefit product before, this was a great introduction to the brand π
It contains:
- Mini Powder Blush in CORALista
- 5 Eye Shadows (Passion Pearl, Peachy Sheen, Terracotta Satin, Steamy Copper, Deep Bronze)
- Mini BADgal lash mascara
- Full sized Lip gloss in Life on the A List
- Mini High Beam
- Mini Moon Beam
- Blush and Eye shadow applicators
I’ve used this palette for a solid week and really love it! Both the blush and eye shadows have lovely pigmentation, always a must for me. The eye shadows in particular have a soft velvety texture.
The blush reminds my of a semi-matte version of NARS Orgasm, pink with some coral. Very pigmented so just a few dabs on the palette was enough to flush both cheeks.
The mascara surprised me, I found no smudging, though it didn’t find it did much for my lashes in terms of thickening or lengthening. It more defined my lashes than anything overly dramatic.
The gloss had very good pigmentation, and felt smooth on the lips. I don’t have any comments for longevity, never did try it long enough.
I really loved the high beam and moon beam mini tubes, honestly when I applied them in the mornings I couldn’t tell if they had worked, they just blended away into my skin. However, once the sun came out whilst walking to the office I could see a lovely dewy glow in my reflection when the light hit. Very subtle and polished. I can see me going through these quickly so I’ll have to invest in a full sized version soon!
Overall, I really loved this palette for a day to day look. It is perfect for work since it’s great for creating neutral looks. Nothing disappointed me in terms of quality (perference is another thing all together) and as I said, it’s a great introduction into this famous brand π I didn’t use the applicators, I’m a brush girl! But I find applicators handy when I’m out and about.
Speaking of which, the palette is a tad chunky for my liking. It could certainly fit into my handbag no questions, but it would probably take up quite a bit of space (my work bag is an LV Speedy 25, I like smaller bags). I’m a huge fan of cute small palettes hehe.
This is a great palette, so glad that out of all the Benefit gift sets, this was the one I picked π However if you have enough neutral palettes, might be best to look for something with more drama!
