This is a bit of an interesting collection, when I first saw it online I really didn’t have a clue -what- season / event / theme it was shooting for. But as soon as I read the description I knew I had to give them a shot. Essentially these polishes are all top coats. How cool is that? They give off different finishing effects depending on what your main colour is,
I have yet to experiment with a bunch of different colours, but I figured it might be interesting to at least swatch them for you guys first! As always 2 coats, even tho I reckon you’d probably only use 1 if you were using them as top coats (frankly I reckon you could even use these as the main polish)
A Cut Above
Chunky metallic light pink glitter, a mixture of large and smaller glitters. It looks amazing in the bottle, not too bad on the nail, but thanks to the chunkier glitters they tend to have a rougher finish. I find that China Glaze’s Material Girl is very similar to this, slightly different shade of pink.
As Gold As It Gets
Irregular shaped gold flecks, has a slight duo-chrome effect and a beautiful smooth finish.
Pure Pearlfection
The finest shimmer from this collection, has a lovely (as the name suggests) pearl like finish. Some close dupes would be China Glaze’s White Cap which has a bit more of a hologram effect, but Zoya’s Sparkle Gloss is an incredibly close dupe.
Set in Stones
Chunky silver glitter of varying sizes, exactly the same in texture and finish as A Cut Above.
Shine of the Times
I’m not even sure how to describe this, clearly these are glitter flecks that look very yellow in the bottle, but once painted on my nails turned out looking rather pink under my lights. Quite an interesting effect huh?

I love Pure Pearlfection! So pretty. I never used to care much for glitters but lately I have been loving China Glaze Snow Globe layered over different polishes. I think the idea of this collection is great!

I -love- the way glitters look on my nails…. they are just a pain to remove X_x;
Amanda says
wow! i’d love to see these as an actual topcoat over something like black.
Shine of the Times looks amazing! mini flakies!

Isn’t it just amazing? π I can’t wait to experiment with these, hopefully I’ll have something to post π

It’s a really unique idea, atleast I’ve never seen it done before π

The only one I have right now is As Gold As It Gets… However, I’m due a ‘made it through finals’ reward, so I will likely be picking up the rest of this collection this week! I bought AGAIG with a specific purpose in mind, but my favorite is probably Pure Pearlfection based on swatches alone. I guess I’ll find out for sure this weekend! π

I’m not normally a glitter person but when I tried to pick a favorite out of these, I couldn’t because I liked them all so much! Shine of the times seems like it would layer well with a blue or green.
(P.S. D: Not sure why but my feed wasn’t updating with you! I just got it work so prepare for comments!)

Thanks for showing us these! I did not consider myself a glitter nail polish type of girl until I tried one of these. I received As Gold As It Gets in my March Teen Vogue Birchbox, and I have been wearing it with everything! I wore one coat with a subtle taupe polish for work a couple of days ago. Last night I wore 2 coats over a dark red for a more dramatic look for an evening on the town, and today I brushed on one coat over a dark navy polish.
After seeing your post, I’m going to run out now to purchase the pearly finish one. Thank you!

I have heard that glitter polishes are difficult to remove. Essie’s As Gold As It Gets is really as easy to remove as a regular non-glitter polish. Probably because it has a smooth surface.
Celina, thank you again for posting this.

Shine of the times is what’s often referred to as an “opalescent” (like Australian opals). Thanks for the swatches xx

Thanks for stopping by and the extra bit of knowledge π Very cool!
