I am really enjoying Dior’s Bird of Paradise collection! So many great pinks, blues and turquoise colours (admittedly kind of similar to what Chanel released). It’s all very tropical! For nail polish Dior released a total of four polishes, but this time in mini form. You can purchase the polishes in sets of two, so two sets to purchase all together. The two sets available are Bahia and Samba. Bahia contains a bright fuchsia and dark blue shade, both crèmes. And Samba contains a crème mint and a shimmery metallic turquoise. Very similar to Chanel’s Azure from their Summer 2013 collection.
The thing I loved about Dior polishes the most was the brush shape. As you can see, the brush shape is typically rounded and it makes applying polish so easy! However with these mini polishes, the same rounded brush was not provided, and instead was just your typical flat brush. A bit of a disappointment, it would have been an amazing touch if Dior had gone the extra mile and provided rounded brushes with their mini polishes. It’s the little details that really speak volumes of a brand.
All swatches are 2 coats with no top coat.
Bahia
Bright crème fuchsia, pigmentation was solid and the formula made it very easy to apply. A good initial application and you probably could get away with just one coat.
A deeper crème blue shade, which unfortunately did stain my nails after I removed it. It took a couple of days for the staining to fade away.
Samba
A crème mint shade, a bit deeper than the typical mint shades I’ve seen in years before.
Probably the most iconic shade for this collection, a metallic turquoise shade. Great application, except for the inevitable streaking and slight staining that comes with it.
Each set is available for purchase at either Myer or David Jones.
