I’ve got a growing obsession with chubby lip pencils, I’m not really sure why but I suspect it’s because they feel like a lipstick without the total commitment and pigmentation of a lipstick. I dunno, something about wearing full blown strong lipsticks at work scares me a little. I think there is too much that can go wrong. Weekends or after work are a whole different story, I’ve got the luxury of time and a calmer mental state to ensure my lipstick remains intact!
So when Sisley sent me a sample of their new Lip Twist range, I was pretty sure I’d love them. I already loved the ones from Clinique and Revlon, I was pretty sure I’d fall for these too. And I did.
I was given Baby and Berry to test out, and I’ve actually added Baby to my “work makeup” bag because it’s a beautiful subtle shade that I feel comfortable wearing at work 🙂 I trust that no matter how much I snack or focus on work, it won’t make me look like a complete mess like some darker shades may.
These lip twists pretty much function as they sound, like a tinted lip balm that you can twist up as you go so no need to sharpen.
The pigmentation is kind of like a tinted lip balm, though I’d say for a tinted lip balm it actually has quite a bit more colour to it. I find the darker shade Berry to be great for layering, single swipe for a wash of sheer colour, but keep going and you’ll find yourself sporting a rich berry shade.
In terms of longevity, on an average day I caught myself having to reapply after each time I ate or just before I wanted to take a photo (I’m not alone here right…), which is pretty standard for me when it comes to lip products.
All in all, I’m really enjoying these and if you have the budget for it, I would certainly recommend them!
If you’re interested, there are a total of 6 different shades to choose from and they go for $50AUD a piece at selected David Jones.
