It goes without saying that one of the things I love about the USA is the makeup, it’s so much cheaper than Australia and the variety is incredible! I love the feeling of just waltzing into a store and feeling comfortable that I can actually buy something here because I know the price is good!
Every time we arrive in a new destination the first thing we try to do is find the local grocery store to stock up on snacks and drinks, it just makes it so much cheaper than having to constantly buy food as you go along. And naturally, where there is groceries, there is makeup. I’ve tested out three products I’ve been eyeing for a while now and thought I’d give a mini review for all three!
Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder
I picked this up because I know that the Dream Matte Powder which I loved is now slowly being discontinued and replaced with this, and I was curious. It’s certainly different! The powder is fine and actually very pigmented! Much more pigmented than the original Dream Matte Powder, you need to be a little careful with applying this because it’s so pigmented. Go light, else you will end up with too much powder! My opinion? I like it, but I think I might continue to search for a new powder as I prefer something with lighter coverage.
Covergirl Bombshell Volume Mascara
Basically how this works, you apply wand 1 first, to give your lashes length and then you apply wand 2 on top of it to give your lashes volume. I wouldn’t recommend this, the result was only so so, and on top of that, because of the two wands it took twice as long to apply my mascara. I’m probably going to bin this before I go back to Australia to save space in my already overflowing luggage.
Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer
I feel incredibly late to the party with these, but these are amazing! On this trip I have discovered the Rimmel Lip Laquer and NYX Butter Gloss, two new (to me) favourite lip products that I need more of! This applies like any other gloss, but it has a rich level of pigmentation that can replace the need for a lipstick. These don’t provide additional moisture to your lips, but admittedly my lips feel comfortable and hydrated, not at all drying, love this!

We have those Rimmel lip products here, they are called Apocalips here though instead of Show Off. That powder seems very interesting, I will definitely be buying it when it launches here as I don’t mind a bit of extra coverage with my powders!
