Remember that foundation phase I mentioned I was on? Well it’s still going and today I have NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation to review for you.
I have to admit that this foundation threw me off initially. I hadn’t read any reviews so in my head I was expecting something similar to Sheer Glow in that one pump would be enough for your entire face. Well one pump from this foundation visually looks like about 1/3 of the size of what I would get from Sheer Glow AND the formula is far more liquid. So logically I assumed I needed more product and dispensed another 2 pumps. Wrong move!
This stuff is incredibly pigmented, in fact one pump is enough to give you a nice medium coverage if you don’t have any major skin issues. Since the formula is so liquid it spreads easily! I think if you were using a brush maybe you would need 1.5 pumps since the brush will absorb some of the product. But when I used my fingers (and then a brush to blend out any harsh lines) one pump was more than enough.
However if you’re looking for full coverage, then this will likely suit your needs too. You can certain build this up to give you very full coverage, though you will likely need to set it with a powder right after as it has a tendency to crease with any lines you may have since it takes a little longer than most foundations to dry.
In terms of wear, I actually found this foundation to be relatively hydrating, I worn it for a full day and whilst I noticed it did sink into my pores at around the 5-6 hour mark (still better than the Bourjois Healthy Mix Old Formula that I’m trying to finish up that sinks into my pores after only 2-3 hrs…). But what I did notice is that it didn’t exaggerated the dry patches I have around my eyes and at the tip of my nose! Which is something I’ve only noticed with good quality powder foundations, so that’s definitely a plus.
Thanks to the “luminous” properties, unless you suffer from very dry skin I would at least recommend powdering down any areas of your face you either won’t want shine or don’t want creasing. I personally avoid powdering any areas of my face that tend to suffer from dry patches.
In summary, I love this foundation! The finish is perfect for me, I love that such a small amount is all you need to cover your entire face because my foundation feels so much more lightweight. And the hydrating factors for me, whilst not as good as some foundations I’ve tried is still amazing.
The shade I’m using is Gobi, which is just a tad bit light on me, however the shade below it, Deauville is too dark. So in a perfect world I’d own both and mix them. But using Gobi and then settling it with powder works out fine, especially now that we’re entering Winter in Australia.
