You know me, always keen to try new foundations! So many to try, so little time (and faces!). Laura Mercier not so recently released their Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide ($59AUD / $48USD). Laura Mercier claims this is a long wearing, oil-free foundation that is designed to help blur the line between real skin and makeup.
The first thing you’ll notice is how liquid the formula is. You need to be sure to shake the bottle before opening it to ensure the pigment is completely mixed. Failure to do so could leave you dispensing clear strange liquid instead. And when you do open it, you’ll notice how messy the nozzle is. That’s not a defect, that’s just how it will always appear due to the liquid nature of this foundation.
But don’t let the formulation fool you, this foundation is pigmented. I’d say it has medium buildable coverage, but you only need a very small amount to get complete coverage. I’d say in the photos above, I used far less than a 5 cent piece to cover my entire face. However due to the liquid nature, I would recommend either using your fingers or brush, rather than a sponge to avoid too much of the product from being absorbed.
I love the dewy finish this foundation leaves you with, I’d still personally pat it down with a light dusting of face powder but I could imagine myself going out without any powder if you prefer.
And in case you’re curious, the shade I obtained is Crème, which may appear too light for me in the photos above, but for some reason it looks like the perfect match in person! Personally I always aim for shades that match my neck to ensure I have even coverage and colour.
You can pick up one for yourself at either David Jones, Sephora, Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus.
