Last night I was lucky enough to attend Lancome‘s Hypnose Drama Noirs Perles Mascara launch, where I managed to meet the extremely talented and famous makeup artist Michael Brown, Lancome’s official makeup artist. He is talented and personality all wrapped up into one! Gorgeous <3
I also finally got the opportunity to put a name to the face for both of Lancome's lovely PR ladies, Camille and Jess~ They are just as sweet in person as they are in all their emails π And of course I got to hang out with some of my favourite MBBE girls π
I learnt that Lancome recently released a free app for the iPhone and iPad where you can go through news, fill out surveys to determine the most suitable makeup products for you! Michael showed us how, by entering what type of eye lashes you have, the app shows you your perfect mascara.

But the best feature for me was the face chart, that allows you to actually play around with virtual makeup. Once you’ve finish creating your look, the app will save which products you used, the face chart and you can have all the information either sent to your email or facebook account. Something very useful if you’re having a consultation at a Lancome counter.
Next Michael gave us a lesson or two on makeup~ First was how to freshen up your makeup if you are planning to go out after work and how to create a simple smokey eye for makeup beginners.
I took a bunch of notes to share with you!
How to freshen up makeup after 8hrs of wear
- Avoid reapplying all your makeup again, this will only cause your face to appear cakey.
- Simply use a highlighter to highlight your cheek bones, bridge of your nose, cupids bow, brow bone and inner corner of your eyes. This will instantly make you appear more fresh and awake.
- To add more light to the middle of your face, first conceal your dark circles with a concealer, then top that off with a soft highlighter. Don’t add too much product, we want a very subtle glow.
- If you want to touch up your mascara, do not reapply to all your lashes. Just tap the base of your lashes to give them a new lift.
Simple smokey eyes for makeup beginners
- For a smokey day look, apply a brown / gray eye liner pencil to your lash line. Don’t be afraid of accidently drawing on the lid or make any slip ups, because after we’ve applied the liner we want to smudge it out with a brush over your lid. Allow most of the colour to remain closer to your lash line. That’s all you need for a day time look.
- For a darker / night look, take a dark shadow and apply directly to the center of your lid and blend out. Most tutorials recommend you apply the colour to the outer corner of your eyes, but it can be difficult to achieve a perfect wing if you’re not confident with your skills. Applying to the center of your lid will give an equally polished look, whilst being much simpler.
- Dab your eye shadows on, and blend gently. Applying with strong sweeps is more likely to create fall out.
- When applying mascara, roll the mascara wand away from you as you apply. This will help coat all your lashes. Avoid applying volumising mascara in a zig zag like fashion as you are more likely to clump up your lashes, especially if they are long.
- If you make a mistake, take your foundation brush and gentle wipe it off. Using your fingers will smudge it, and using a cotton bud will remove both the makeup AND your foundation.
Apologises for the uber long post, last night covered a lot and I wanted to make sure I posted this before I forgot~ Hopefully you guys have found it useful, I know I have!
Thanks so much to Lancome for the lovely opportunity, I had an absolute blast and I can’t wait for your next visit, we’ll be sure to do lunch or drinks next time for sure π
If you are interested in keeping up to date with anything related to Lancome, then the best place would be their official blog.
