Finally! I’ve been eyeing the Gucci makeup collection ever since it was first announced earlier this year and I’m so glad to finally have my hands on a small set to play with 🙂 My overall impression is that I am impressed! There’s a lot about the makeup I love, and some I don’t love as much. I figured because I still haven’t found a ton of reviews online for Gucci makeup, I would go through and review everything I managed to purchase over the course of the next couple of weeks. Figured it would be more useful to generally have them out earlier than later 🙂 So I hope you bear with me, I won’t be just reviewing Gucci, but it will be playing a pretty prominent role for a little while on the blog!
Okay, today I wanted to take a look at the Lustrous Flow Foundation, especially their version of liquid foundation. Packaging wise, it’s solid, it has a pump (yay), and is made of glass. So it’s certainly high quality, but heavy. Important to keep in mind if you are a frequent traveller.
The foundation itself is quite light, I’d say it ranges from light to medium (closer to the light end), though buildable. The formula feels comfortable and slightly sticky upon initial application, but felt weightless soon after. I think if you have dry skin you could almost get away without using a powder. Almost. Personally I would still recommend giving your face a light dusting of powder. I feel safe to say that if you’re someone who like quite a bit of coverage, then this is probably not the foundation for you. It’s a little bit like applying a tinted moisturiser.
Scent wise, there isn’t any particular scent I could detect. If I tried, it almost smelt like a basic lotion? But honestly I couldn’t pin point much of a scent to it, which I absolutely love!
If you’re curious, my natural skin tone is between a MAC NC15 to NC20. I found that shade 020 suited me closest, 010 was just a tad too light though a shade I could still get away with if needed. Generally though, because the formula is so light coverage, I think there is some flexible in the shade range for each person. I’ve included a short comparison photo to give you a better idea.
As for worth, sorry but if I’m honest, this particular product wasn’t worth the money. It’s certainly not a bad foundation by any stretch, but given its high price point, I just don’t think the lack of coverage would do it for me. I don’t think I should need to apply two pumps to achieve the same coverage one pump from a Chanel foundation can give me. But that’s just my opinion as I prefer foundations with more coverage 🙂 Don’t fret though, there are a few more Gucci items coming up soon that I think are very much worth their money!
If you’re based in Australia and are keen on picking one up too, I used a mail forwarding service to purchase mine online for $65USD.

I am heads over heels in love with Gucci Lustrous Glow Foundation. It is light coverage foundation. I d say more on the sheerer lighter side.
