Another instalment from my review spree of the Gucci cosmetics line, and if I was honest this would so far be one of my favourite items.
The pigmentation and buttery texture of these shadows are perfection, there is no need to swirl your brush at all. Just gently tap on the surface and you’ll pick up enough pigment for one eye application. In fact if you’re not used to such pigmented shadows then you’ll probably need to tread carefully, else you may end up looking like someone gave you a black eye.
I always wear eye shadows with a primer, so it’s hard for me to gauge the longevity of an eye shadow on its own, but with my trusted theBalm Put a Lid On It, I could get a full day’s wear easily.
Colour wise, I love the selection. Having previewed all the other palettes online via the website, this seemed the most neutral to me (what? I need another neutral palette!?) and I easily use each shade every time I wear this palette. It can take my look from light during the day to something more vampy for night. Amazing quality and perfect colour selection~
So what’s the catch? The price of course 🙂 At $65USD, it still isn’t as pricey as a Tom Ford palette (which btw I think in terms of quality are very similar to this) but for four small eyeshadows, it’s steep. And so the ultimate question. Is it worth it? Personally speaking, I am planning to splurge on some additional shades that I clearly don’t need, and wouldn’t hesitate to buy from future Gucci collections. I love makeup, especially luxury makeup, and in that realm, this is top quality.
However, having said that, brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced and LORAC to me have great quality eyeshadows too. And if you aren’t picky, and want to save a buck, I’d recommend these.
If you’re based in Australia and are keen on picking one up too, I used a mail forwarding service to purchase mine online for $65USD.
