Whilst Giorgio Armani’s ‘Maestro’ Fusion Foundation may have been released well over a year ago, I admittedly only recently managed to snag myself a bottle to try out on myself.
Based on what I read online, I was really looking forward to this. I suffer from dry skin, particularly during heavy travel periods so I thought an oil-based foundation would really help give my skin some hydration.
The foundation dispenses with a dropper, so you can control how many drops of foundation you want to apply. Since it is oil based, it’s very liquid. In fact probably the most liquid foundation I’ve ever used before which has its good and bad points.
Good is that it does apply very smoothly to the skin, I find using my fingers to be the best way to apply this foundation. When I tried using a brush or sponge, I found that it absorbed way too much product, which, is a huge waste given the price point.
The coverage is extremely natural, so natural that it takes my eyes a few seconds to see the difference. The coverage is pretty minimal, there is a difference, it does help even out your skin tone and generally make you look a little bit more put together. But it’s nowhere near the coverage level of the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, not by a long shot.
In terms of hydration, for something so oily, it didn’t provide that much moisture to the skin. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it did feel just a little heavy on the skin, as in I noticed it was there, which is a little unusual for someone like me who wears foundation at least 5 days a week as it is. But I thought it was worth noting, after 30 mins or so you get used to it and I forget I even have it on.
To me, this product was just okay. I can’t admit to being in a situation where I wanted to use a product that gave me so little coverage. I’d rather just not wear anything at all, or use less of my normal foundation instead. To me, it’s a nice product, but it honestly just felt like watered down regular foundation. It’s certainly not bad enough for me that I’d want to throw it out, but I can’t honestly recommend this to others.
If I wanted something with little coverage, then the compromise would be that it would sit so comfortably on my skin, that I wouldn’t even notice it was there. Which is when I’d used tinted sunscreens that are higher than SPF15 or spots of concealer. It’s a personal preference, I’m certainly going to keep this (I actually have two, long story, I’ll tell you over a hot chocolate), but I wouldn’t repurchase it.
If you think this foundation is still the one for you, then you can pick it up for $64USD online.
