Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Shine ($30USD / $50AUD) and I have a bit of history. Many years ago when I first discovered the joys of online shopping, one of the first luxury lipsticks I picked up was a shade called Almond Nude from Estee Lauder’s original Pure Color lipstick range. Not only was the formula incredibly pigmented, but it was so moisutsring that I didn’t feel the need to wear any sort of lip balm underneath. It’s still the only lipstick I’ve managed to finish off completely and reminds one of my favourites. So you can imagine how broken hearted I was when I discovered the line was discontinued.
But then in walked Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Envy Sculpting Shine, and I soon discovered a familiar old friend. Granted I only have one shade thus far, but I’ll be sure to fix that soon enough. There are many similiarities the two ranges share, signature sweet fig scent that I adore. Moisturising and non-drying to the lips. Certainly all major pros in my book, and the magnetic closure is a lovely touch that gives me added security when throwing this goodie in my hand bag. I can’t tell you the number of times my lipstick cap has popped off in my handbag 🙁
The only difference I’ve found is the pigmentation. I’ve found the Pure Color Envy Shine range to be a little sheerer than when compared to the original Pure Color range. Not that I’m really complaining! The older I get, the more I appreciate subtle / nude like makeup so this actually works well in my favourite. But it’s no where near as sheer as what you would expect from a lip balm, just nor as rich as I remember the original formula being.
All in all, certainly going to have to recommend this and pick up a few additional shades for myself. You can pick this up from either Nordstrom or David Jones.
