Duty free is a beautiful thing! I think all people, especially those who love beauty, fragrances and alcohol know this π So every time I travel I make sure to really stock up on everything I need, as well as explore some new products I would otherwise overlook. This is how I went about obtaining Dior’s Summer Mix 2012 Nail Polish collection.
Ever since I rediscovered Dior’s Le Croisette polish, I knew that would be the beginning of extensive (and expensive) growth of Dior in my nail polish collection. In fact it’s safe to say that I’m likely going to be selling down the majority of my current collection to make way for more Dior because I’ve never found a polish that applied so easily. The brushes are (according to Sefie) just like Rimmel’s, in that they are wide and rounded at the tip. This makes it incredibly easy for me to apply polish to my right hand (which always ends up looking like a hot mess with any other polish).
The formulas were very easy to work with, absolutely no complaints! This particular collection was designed to make the nail appear glossy with a slight transparent finish. Reminds me a little of gel. I’m slightly sad that Dior polishes are so expensive in Australia, and almost impossible to order online due to the alcohol content π Swatches below are two coats with no top coat.
Acapulco
An acid yellow glossy polish, yellow never seems like a suitable colour and yet every time I wear this shade I realise how wearable yellow really can be with the right skin tone! China Glaze’s Sunshine Pop is a great dupe only with a metallic / shimmery finish.
Calypso
A pomegranate red, when worn with just one coat the colour looks a lot more like “watermelon”, more pink than red. Apply two coats then you’ve got a stronger red colour. China Glaze’s Wicked Style is a pinker version.
Cosmo
A cranberry pink, kind of similar to Calypso only more pink. Essie’s Lights is more fluoro and Savvy by DB’s Fuchsia is a very close dupe minus the slight glossy transparency this collection offers.
Lagoon
A Curacao blue polish, Zoya’s Breezi is an almost exact match! I want to say exact, but something just felt a bit different. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Honestly they likely are almost the same, and I’ve just been staring at the two swatches for too long.
Unfortunately I’m not sure if this collection is still available, I know it was duty free! (yeah that was no help…)
