When it comes to lip products, I have to admit that glosses aren’t really the first thing I gravitate towards. And that’s simply because I tend to wear my hair down and if I wear gloss, you can be sure that my hair will end up in it soon after.
But the blogosphere has been going crazy over these new glosses from Chanel and you know what a sheep I am when it comes to makeup trends, so I quickly picked out up for myself to try out. And I get it, I can see why this is all the rage!
Firstly, the smell is such an improvement over the traditional rose scent that Chanel typically has. I know lots of people love it, but personally it made me want to gag each time! It’s very subtle vanilla like scent now, and since I’m a sucker for sweet scents, this works out great for me.
However the key thing I noticed was firstly the pigmentation, for a gloss it has a solid colour to it but still feels like a true gloss rather than a creamy lipstick. And the second thing I noticed was how comfortable this sat on my lips. Didn’t dry them out or sink into my lip lines or anything like that at all. It was perfect and if I didn’t need to eat, would have lasted a lot longer than the 2-3 hours it did for me.
Additionally I did love that rather than a twist top, the way to open this to push the lid down so it was pop up. However just watch out if you leave this gloss rolling around your bag, as it can accidently pop open on it’s own (happened to me once).
In terms of glosses this is definitely up there for me, and despite not being a gloss lover, I’ve got my eyes on two more shades to add to my collection. Admittedly, I do love how convenient and low-maintenance glosses generally are over pigmented lipsticks. And yes, this still got stuck to my hair once I stepped outside, so I generally make it a point to keep my hair tied up or pinned back if I’m wearing a gloss 🙂
