Generally I’ve never been much of a fan of Bobbi Brown Palettes; I remember purchasing one a few years ago in duty free and really couldn’t stand it! No matter how hard I dug with my brush I could never get any real pigmentation. Worse, the shimmer was chunky and gritty 🙁 I can still review this palette for you if you guys like!
So not surprisingly I didn’t have high expectations for this palette, and maybe that’s why my review is going to come across even more positive since I started with such low expectations.
Bobbi Brown palettes this year have really been catching up eyes, especially the Mini Bobbi Brights Palette (I just couldn’t justify the price for eye shadows smaller than my little finger nail), I figured the Modern palette is one I can actually use since 5 days out of the week I’m a neutral person.
It’s relatively small (fits in the palm of my hand) and contains 10 eye shadows, 4 lip products and 2 mini brushes, which is all I really when I need to touch up my makeup out.
The eye shadow pigmentation was amazing, the colours are very neutral so perfect for my office life and the darker shadows are great for smoking out my eyes in the evening. The lip colours lean on the sheerer side, and come in 4 very natural colours.
This might sound gross, but I haven’t used the brushes they come with. I actually use my (clean!) fingers to touch up my makeup at work~ I’m getting better at applying makeup with my fingers and I think its sooo handy! Means I don’t need to worry about always carrying brushes with me hehe.
One thing I like about this palette is how the eye shadows are separated to the lip colours using the mirror. My photos don’t illustrate this, but basically at no time are the lip colours or eye shadows able to come into contact with each other whilst closed, which means my lip colours will not have little bits of eye shadows fall out in them.
I’m really loving Bobbi Brown for more natural makeup, and given what my up coming blogging resolutions will be I suspect I will have to endeavour further into the Bobbi Brown collection (I’ll post about my blogging resolutions next week!)
I got my palette from Sephora for $75US, but they are also available from Myer and David Jones for $160AU if you aren’t keen on online shopping (omgosh, who doesn’t love online shopping!?) It’s a pricey palette that’s for sure, and so I would only recommend it to maybe people like myself, working full time in a corporate / conservative environment that would actually use everything in this palette. I can’t imagine students or people in more creative industries benefiting a ton from this product.

I love this product, definitely my weekday 9-5 go to palette. Basically you can’t go wrong with this palette, even the shimmery ones are so wearable for work. Loves it!

I love the first line of swatches. They are great colours and remind me of the Urban Decay Naked palette.
Very cool! I am jumping onto Sephora now.
