I thought it was about time I sit down and have a little one on one time with you about haircuts, my fears and where I am now with it all.
I’m a bit of an introvert, and with that comes a few interesting quirks. For example I generally don’t like being touched. Which rules out spa treatments, but also it had ruled out haircuts for a long time. One of the major reasons I had long hair for so long! But I bit the bullet last year and decided to finally get it cut at Tsumiki and was thrilled with the results. And then late last year I went for a second cut with another salon (because Tsumiki was booked out and I was desperate) and the results weren’t so great. So I decided to head back to Tsumiki last weekend and am back to LOVING my hair!
I never know if this sort of strange “phobia” is just me specific or if other have it as well, but in case you do share my fears and happen to live in Melbourne, then I thought it was at least worth mentioning that your fears are easy to control so long as you have the right people. Mai from Maison Tsumiki is my go to hair dresser and she suits my personality type and style to a T. I absolutely love how she cuts and styles my hair, but above that she is incredibly intuitive and knows how to manage her interacts with me to ensure I’m always comfortable. Surprisingly a skill I never thought a good hairdresser needed, but I’m convinced that’s the difference between good and great.
The only thing to be aware of is that cuts from Tsumiki aren’t cheap and tend to vary depending on how your hairdresser is. I get a wash, cut and blow dry and it works out to be $88AUD. Given all my issues, this is completely and utterly worth it! So it each their own 🙂
