I’m the sort of person who almost never goes out without using some sort of heat styling tools to my hair. Naturally, my hair is pretty poofy and wavy, making it difficult to really do much with it except throw it up in a bun. Most days I’ll straighten it, but occasionally when I have more time I’ll opt to curl it. So I decided that a GHD straightener would be the best weapon of choice for travel as I can both straighten and curl my hair with it.
I’d recently purchased the GHD Eclipse though never used it before at home, so it was probably a little risky of me to take it with me for my travels when I had no idea if it was any good. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised and this straightener blows away all the previous GHDs I’ve owned.
Unlike many other straighteners I’ve tried in the past, this one heats up in under 5 seconds! Incredible! Most of the time I need to turn on my styling tool, go away for a few minutes and come back to finally style my hair. Not with this guy!
From what I’ve read, this styler is built to style hair faster using less heat, using an optimum heat of 185 degrees, easy to turn off and off by pressing and holding down the GHD logo found at the bottom of the straightener. I love the glossy finish of the straightener, it makes it much easier to create curls as it allows your hair to glide through.
This is the perfect tool for travel, if I was at home I’d still opt to use my L’Oreal Steam Pod just because the plates are much bigger and the inbuilt comb ensures all my hair is perfectly straightened, but when my hair was shorter I did prefer using a tool with smaller plates day to day like the GHD. The benefit for me with the GHD is opposed to the Steam Pod, I can create curls, making the GHD far more versatile for different styles.
Very happy with my decision to tote along this new GHD as opposed to any other tool and can see it being a good travel companion for future trips 🙂 If you’re thinking it’s time to upgrade your straightener, definitely upgrade to the Eclipse model, I purchased mine off the GHD website for a pretty hefty $300AUD , it’s a pretty steep price for a hair straightener, but given my previous GHD (RIP) lasted me over 10 years, I’m pretty happy to reinvest in a newer better model 🙂
