Dior has just dropped their first contour / bronzing stick in four different shades called the Dior Forever Skin Contour Stick. Depending on what you are going for these sticks are great (as per the suggestion of their name) for contouring, but also giving warmth to the face for a bronzed effect. I am currently addicted to these kinds of products, I’m all about creme products right now. As I get older and my skin is drier and I’m always leaning on more hydrating products. However, because I’m getting older, I’ve found the need to add a little more sculpt and contour to my face so when a new contour stick comes out from pretty much any brand, I’m right there. I decided to pick up with Dior Forever Skin Contour in Light as it matches my skin tone the best. These are available online for $95AUD.
This stick comes in four different shades:
- 01 Light
- 02 Tan
- 03 Medium
- 04 Deep
The packaging for me is exquisite, I’m really enjoying the sleek matte branding that Dior has taken on for some of their makeup products recently, whilst till retaining its femininity by featuring the well-known quilted patterns. To me it speaks modern whilst paying homage to Dior’s roots.
But I won’t lie, the second I opened the tube I was hit with a strong floral scent. If you’re familiar with any of Dior scents in terms of their foundation, then you won’t be a stranger to this smell. However, what surprised me is how much stronger it was, perhaps because it is in crème form? Either way I was a bit worried I was going to start feeling nauseous once I put it on and had to smell it continuously. I’m personally not a fan of strong scents in general (yeah not a perfume girly unfortunately even though I so wish I was, I mostly collect them to enjoy their aesthetics, but I don’t personally wear perfume).
Fortunately, the smell disappears pretty fast once you’ve applied the product. Perhaps you don’t really need a ton of product to get a nice subtle contour, or perhaps you just get used to the smell over time? Either way I was relieved.
The formula was incredibly creamy and blended like a dream. I know a lot of people prefer to apply the product directly to the skin and blend, however for me I prefer to pick up the product on a brush first and then apply. It takes a few repeat steps to get the contour I’m looking for however I find the process gives me a lot more control to build up the look, it looks much more subtle and well blended. So, if you’re unsure how to apply this product I highly recommend this technique, I’ll also be releasing a video soon showing how I apply it so be on the lookout for that. I’ll likely come back to retrospectively update this post to include a link to my video.
This look lasted all day for me, and by all day I mean I usually put on my makeup around 7am and wash it off around 11:30pm that night, so I’d say that’s relatively long wearing which as a busy working mum, is exactly what I need. Makeup that goes on easily at the start of the day and lets me get on with my life, so I don’t need to touch up or worry about it at all through the day.
No surprises, I LOVE the Dior Forever Skin Contour Stick and highly recommend it for those who want to give their face a little lift and contour. I’ve included the Westman Atelier Contour Stick in Biscuit, Rare Beauty Bronzer Stick in Bright Side and Kevyn Aucoin Contrast Stick in Shape for comparison in the photo above, though price wise they are all pretty similar. Nevertheless, I know this product will last me a long time given how little I use and so it’s one I would 100% recommend.
