One of Dior’s iconic tried and true foundations that has been around for many years now is the Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation. Dior claims that this foundation acts like a second skin with a natural finish that is resistant to water and heat. The formula is sheer to medium and the go to face and body foundation for many of the Dior runway shows. The Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation can be picked up from either Sephora Australia or Sephora USA for $79AUD and $43USD respectively.
Coverage & Wear
What I really found fascinating about this particular foundation is the claim that it was intended for runway usage, unlike many of the other Dior foundations I’ve tried that were really more consumer focused. Now I can kinda see why this was intended for runway and may or may not be suitable for everyday wear depending on your personal tastes. First of all, coverage for this is very build able but you do need to give a bit of time for each of the layers to dry. I would say that if you go heavy handed with this foundation from the start it can come off patchy, so best to have a rough idea as to how you want to apply this foundation from the start. I think what makes this a great, more professional foundation (in my very unprofessional opinion!) is that it’s customiseable to what you need but you need to have the skill to achieve what you’re looking for if that makes sense?
That’s probably the main thing I prefer about more consumer foundations, I generally find them to be a little more “beginner” friendly and forgiving. The coverage and wear off the bat is pretty smooth and even, but if you’re looking to really customise how it works for a particular look then it can be more limiting in it’s capability. So I’d say to me that’s the biggest difference between the Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation vs the Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation.
Longevity
No surprises, the wear is amazing! Lasted all day and remained pretty much exactly how I applied it safe for a few spots that naturally don’t do well long term with any sort of foundation (my very dry and oily patches). It might seem like a strange comparison, but it kinda reminded me of glue? Just really clung to my skin well and stayed in tact. If you have good skin and want something that wears amazing from the morning till night, this is a great foundation to go with. Minimal touch ups.
The website description says that the Dior Body and Face Foundation is both water and heat resistant, not something I’ve been in a position to personally test but given how well it’s been holding up during my day to day wear it wouldn’t surprise me. On my next vacation, especially if I manage to take a tropical one I’ll definitely be packing this foundation with me.
Overall
To me this foundation is great depending on your usage. If I were on vacation or needed to be out of the house for an extended period of time (which right now in my season of life with young kids never happens) this would be my go to. I’m already planning to take this with me on a couple of vacations coming up so I’m excited to see how it holds up. However, for day to day when I’m short on time and just need to apply something quickly without much effort? I’d probably deter back to the Dior Forever Skin Glow instead as it is so easy to use.
