Currently I am on the hunt for the perfect eyeliner, something that is compact, easy to apply, feels gentle on my eye lid and gives me an intense black precise line. Unfortunately I am still searching, but I thought I’d do a quick review / comparison of two NYX liners I managed to trial π
First up is the NYX Felt Tip Liner, which is essentially a pen liner. Take the lid off and go.
Second is the NYX Liquid Eye Liner, which comes with a thin small brush that you dip into a tube of the product.
I’ve decided to do a point form comparison, else this post would become way too wordy.
- Liquid Eye Liner gives a much more intense pigmented black line than the Felt Tip Liner.
- Felt Tip Liner dries much faster than the Liquid Eye Liner.
- The Felt Tip Liner’s tip is very sharp and hard, with almost no “give”, which means whilst it can give a lovely precise line and is easy to control it can actually be physically painful to apply .
- The Liquid Eye Liner’s tip is much more gentle to the eye, though can be more difficult to control than the Felt Tip Liner. Not as makeup “beginner” friendly.
Next on my NYX eye liners to try probably will be the fat and skinny liners, has anyone else tried them before?

I found the NYX skinny liner to have a very blue-black colour – I had to go over it twice to get a true black, and even then it would fade quite quickly for a liquid liner. It’s not bad, but not great either.

Ahh, I might give the skinny and fat liners a miss then π Don’t want to waste money on what seems to not be HG liners.

I’m so gonna try this. They look real fab!

=D! If I wasn’t so scared of giving you an infection by sharing such intimate makeup I would totally give you mine!

Hey it’s so funny I just recently did a review of my Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. I’m in search for a eyeliner that doesn’t smudge on me. I also prefer a gel eyeliner than a liquid eyeliner. I tried a N.Y.C drugstore brand of liquid eyeliner and it was a disaster, and I tend to think that liquid tube form eyeliner dries quick which doesn’t give me an ample of time to fix my mistake.

Yes, I loved your review! Right now when I’m at home, my favourite eye liner is my MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. I love that it does have give, easy to apply and is buildable. Once I finish it up, I’m going to switch over to Bobbi Brown’s Gel Liner~ I tend to carry liquid liners in my purse, when I want to intensify my eyes after work or whilst I’m out since gel liners are a bit messier to use whilst on the go.

Wow, loving your creative looks esp. frozen and the “swampy” one!
In terms of liquid liner, I really like Lancome’s Artliner or what MakeupAlley posters suggest is a dupe for the Artliner, L’Oreal’s Lineur Intense.
I have a huge problem with smudging and these are the most smudge-spoof products I’ve found so far (yes, gel liners such as Fluidline also smudge on me!). I’d agree that Lineur Intense is *very* similar to the Artliner – just slightly crappier packaging.
Check out US retailers such as ACW for the products, as the Lancome Artliner esp. is a bit exxy I imagine in Aust. Else, Revlon’s Colourstay liquid liner which is readily available in Aust is very good, also.
Btw, these liners still aren’t as matte-black as what you’ll get with Fluidline but if convenience is what you’re after, they’re pretty damn good.

Thanks so much Tina! Doing the looks are my favourite part of blogging π And thanks for your advice! I’ve never tried Lancome’s Artliner before, it’s always been on my “to try” list, but you’re absolutely right in saying that it’s generally very $$ in Australia >_< I'll try the L'Oreal version =D Much more affordable! Thanks again~
