The Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-Eyes Volume Mascara is the latest Charlotte Tilbury addition to join the family. It is suppose to be a volumising mascara with a 28 hour curl. I’ll be upfront with you right now, I did not test this mascara for 28 hrs, because I need my sleep and I refuse to ever wear a shred of makeup to bed for the sake of my skin. I did however manage to wear it close to 18 hrs which I feel gave me all the information I needed to know about this mascara. The Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-Eyes mascara is available from Sephora USA for $28USD or Mecca for $50AUD. There is a mini version available at 4ml instead of 10ml that retails for $26AUD.
Mascara is one of those products I will always have on hand forever, because I believe it makes such a big difference in opening my eyes and really pulling the whole look together. My preferred formula is a voluminsing mascara, not because my eye lashes are long by any means (there are pretty boring and normal) but I just love the look of lush thick lashes on me. And I was happy to discover that the Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-Eyes Volume Mascara delivered.
The wand is not too thick, and nicely curled that makes application very simple but more so makes application to the lower lash line relatively pain free for those of us who have very few to coat. The formula almost reminded me of the Lancome Hypnose mascara, as pretty fast I could see my lashes thickening up and looking a lot full after a few coats. Personally for me I need to apply an initial coat, wait for a few seconds for it to become a bit tacky and then re-apply a second coat. I would never recommend waiting for your lashes to completely dry else you will likely end up with very clumpy spidery lashes.
In terms of wear, as mentioned I didn’t test this mascara out for 28 hrs (I’m curious to know who would and why they would need to wear mascara for that long) but it held up perfectly for the entire day without any issue, and melted off easily with my cleansing oil. Other days I’d use some micellar cleansing water and same result, no issues at all with removal.
Overall, I love this mascara and can see why there is so much hype around it! At $50AUD though it’s a tough pill to swallow, though still a lot cheaper than my favourite Lancome Hypnose Drama that retails for $71AUD! Still, I love these type of mascaras too much to stop buying them so I generally try to rotate them between cheaper brands to space out my spending.
