Those of us who are online and have been invested into beauty for a while have all been there. We’ve seen the subscription boxes come out, been intrigued and some of us have even pulled the trigger and subscribed. How could we not? The potential goodies advertised seemed so amazing. The first delivery is usually so exciting! The euphoria of receiving beauty mail that could contain anything from Chanel to Maybelline to Tarte~ The possibilities seemed endless!
But after awhile, and I knew this was the case for me, some months were okay, other months were bad. The brands and products in these boxes were rarely high end nor exciting to me. In fact, often it felt like the brands who took part were more unknown and willing to give out samples just to get their name out there. I can tell you I never once saw Chanel even L’Oreal in my boxes!
And after you’ve sat on these subscriptions for a few months, the sparkle fads, it almost becomes standard to get a bunch of new products that end up living at the bottom of your drawers. And that was me until I went through my expenses and realized I was spending an incredible amount collectively on these sample boxes but getting very little out of them!
I realised I just wasn’t fully utilising all the products that were sent out to me. Sure there were a few in there I thought “Oh, I might give that go, that seems interesting”, but I can promise you I wouldn’t have felt like I missed anything had I not received those items. But I’d be richer (and likely happier) and I’d have a lot less clutter in my room had I not subscribed.
I’m at a point where I’d much rather spend the money on a few full sized high quality products I know I’ll love and use. And I certainly won’t miss the clutter at all!
That isn’t to say subscription boxes aren’t right for others, they just didn’t end up working out for me 🙁
What is your opinion of subscription boxes? Love them? Are you subscribed to any?

I unsubscribed to all of them a couple of years ago. These boxes always start off very well to entice customers to sign up, and offer lots of discounts and freebies to get us to sign on at least 3-6 months. The boxes always turn out crap after the first few boxes. Cheap items that aren’t worth the amount we paid. Sigh.
