A few weeks back during Spring Fashion Week, one of the makeup artists working for Mecca Cosmetica demonstrated how lip balm could be used in a multitude of different ways and I thought the concept was so intriguing I decided to give them a shot myself before I went ahead and shared them with you! Safe to say, these methods work and it’s made my hand bag much lighter now that I only need one product for all! Four uses for your standard lip balm~
Glossy Lips
Obviously great for chapped lips, that’s what it was originally intended for. However if you pick up a more slightly liquid formula for balm, it can double as a great clear gloss to dress up your look a little more.
Treat Dry Skin
You all know I suffer from eczema, so having moisturiser at hand at all times is critical for me. However if I’m out for a day and can only to carry a small bag with me, then I’ve found lip balm works great in a pinch if your skin is feeling particularly dry. May sound weird, but I’ve used it around my nose many times~
Highlight Your Skin
Even better for those who do have dry skin, if you want to give your skin a bit of shine / dimension then applying balm to your high points such as bridge of your nose, forehead and cheek bones is a more natural way to achieve this. Just make sure to go gentle with this because if you over apply, it can come off as oily skin instead.
Tame Flyaways /Brows
For those moments when you don’t have brow / hair gel on you, balm works great at slicking hair back and taming your brows. You probably want to give your hair a wash afterwards though, depending on how you roll 🙂
What else do you use lip balm for?
