I remember this mascara being all the rave a while ago, perhaps some time last year. I love trying new mascaras, I think that’s because my turn around time tends to be pretty fast with them. Basically I’ll have 3-4 mascaras on rotation at any one time (I like layering them), and each mascara will be discarded after 2-4 months depending on how long the formula lasts for. Mascaras are one of the very few makeup items I will always wear when I go to work, religiously. So it’s no surprise I can go through these like hot cakes~!
I had high hopes for L’Oreal’s 4D mascara, because of the hype. But now that I think of it most of the hype came down to marketing, not reviews.
Let’s take this a step at a time, I wasn’t a fan of the packaging. The shape of the tube, especially the handle didn’t sit comfortably in my hand, it felt slightly awkward.
The brush itself was nothing to rave about, it’s basically a straight slightly irregular looking wand that didn’t seem designed to do anything special. But I suppose the worst part is how clumpy the formula was.
The wand naturally picks up way too much product, so if you go at it first go without wiping it down you’ll have extremely thick clumpy lashes. But after I wipe it down at the tip of the barrel, it’s just an awful clumpy mess 🙁
However if none of the above bother you, then this is actually a good mascara in terms of longevity! It lasted an entire working day without any smudging or flaking. It stands up to a surprisingly good amount of “watery eyes”, while not being actually water proof so easy to remove with eye makeup remover. It’s for pretty much that reason alone I plan to finish up this mascara, though can’t see myself re-purchasing it.
This mascara is widely available for around $20AU at more makeup stands that stock L’Oreal. Target, Priceline etc.

I always wipe down my mascara brushes (which feels like a waste of product but otherwise i’m clump city!). It looks like a nice mascara but I don’t see anything that would make me stray from my beloved CG Lashblast.

Exactly! I have to do that too, but I hate wasting product 🙁 I much prefer a mascara that does the wiping inside the tube for me 🙂
