Xin Nian Kuai Le! 🙂 Well, at least it will be in a few more days 😀 I won’t pretend that I can speak fluent Chinese, so please forgive any mispronunciations in the video, I’m going purely based off my old memory of Chinese classes which I haven’t attended in well over 10 years now XD; But it’s the year of the Dragon, which is always exciting as the dragon is the only sign who is consider legendary. And the only person who I know is a dragon was my grandfather who unfortunately passed away a few years ago.
The dress was my mother’s, she used to wear it during her youth to celebrate Chinese New Year back in Singapore (where my parents are from, though most of my family is from China). In case you were wondering, I am 100% Chinese, I know I get a lot of questions in real life around whether I’m Viet or Japanese or even half Caucasian O_o;; (I… just don’t see it….) but nope. I’m quite boring 🙂 I’m certainly no artist so this was my best attempt at drawing art on my face (doesn’t that just sound so eloquent?) but I hope you enjoy!
I got a real kick out of dressing up minus the last minute rush rush stress that comes with actually making my costume, so having one ready made is a nice change of pace 🙂

I wouldn’t call being 100% chinese boring…. haha. Chinese culture and history is one of the longest there is and incredibly rich! All the stories, all the traditions, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the culture that built the race. I’m proud of being 100% chinese and wouldn’t have it any other way! <3
Celina says
Same! If I could speak Chinese, even better!!
Sefie says
I love your take on the Chinese “mask”, as well as the free handed dragon 😀
Sefie says
Oh, and I reckon it’s because of your huge, round, brown eyes that people might think that you’re half-Caucasian. Also that you don’t have monolids. Most people think I’m either Japanese (!! yay makeup!!), Chinese (half right) or Malaysian (close enough).

i love the dragon.. and the shading on your nose too! Btw you really don’t look like a pure Chinese lols
Celina says
Thank you! IKR! I’m def Asian looking, but people can never guess I’m a pure breed XD; I wonder if there was some mixing going on in my family several generations back muahaha
Dan Wilson says
Maybe there was some mixing in the past. Or maybe you really are 100 % Chinese and are just really lucky to have inherited a rare genetic mutation for light eyes.
Hazel is such a pretty eye colour 🙂
Siera says
