I remember watching Sophie Ellis Bexter perform Murder on the Dance Floor on TV as a teenager and I was completely in awe of not only how amazing her voice was, but how pretty she was! I loved the chicness of her look and makeup, and over 10 years later here we are~ I tried to replicate the look to a degree, I even cut my hair to get the straight pony tail lol. All I did was try and replicate her makeup, I’m well aware I’ll never match up to the beauty that is Ms Bexter <3

Eeeeee, she’s the first person I remember making me think “omg, makeup can be fun!?” Much love for the look and making me remember that song!

Gorgeous! I remember Sophie Ellis Baxter from my uni days in the UK. She made bright red lips and porcelain skin look so hot π
Celina says
Oh wow! You were in the same country as her! I love love her look *_*

Hey Celina I enjoyed your tutorial!! Love the green eyes!
Btw can I ask u of some advice? I’m looking to buy a blending/crease eyeshadow brush but not sure of the difference in function between one that’s shorter and rounder with 7mm diameter but 10mm length and the longer (around 18mm length) blending brush like the one you used?
Celina says
Thanks so much! I love the green too π
Sure π The shorter brush will help pack on the colour better, and when you blend, the colour generally will appear more concentrated. With a longer, wider brush, it just means the colour will not appear as concentrated, but will be a lot more blended out. I personally use both brushes, the first to help apply the colour to the crease and blend it. Then I use the second brush to blend out eyeshadows around my brow bone. Keep in mind also how large your own eyes are and whether you may require larger or smaller brush to “fit” into your crease π Hope that helps!

hi thank u Celina that really helped! I am also using your tutorial for this as well as Simple Dreams for reference π
Louisa Koh says
Oops sorry another question though: does the pencil brush work better than the first brush I mentioned in the above post (the shorter brush)?
Celina says
Glad I could help! π The pencil brush performs a different function all together, for me I will use it to “trace” where I want to place shadows if I plan to do a more intricate design on my lids (like cut crease) OR I use it a lot of placing colour either in the inner corner of my eye or under my lower lash line. It’s more like a precision brush, and not that great for placing colour in the crease and blending out etc. So it’s purpose it quite difference in my opinion π

Love Sophie Ellis Bextor AND this look! I may be able to rock the green eyes but not with the red lips, I have yet to find the right red lipstick!
Celina says
Thank you π She is an amazing artist, good luck finding the perfect red π

Thanks so much for doing this look, I loved Murder on the Dance Floor when it first came out and was always so envious of Sophie’s gorgeous porcelain skin. I just ordered the Nyx Rocky Mountain Green Jumbo eye pencil the other week and I must try and do something similar. I love your videos so much, I learn so much from you!
Celina says
My absolute pleasure Megan! <3 π I absolutely love NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils! I have all the colours and they are absolutely amazing π Good luck!

Aww thank you Maddy <3 π That's very sweet of you to say π
Louisa Koh says
Thanks Celina for your replies! So what brush are u using at 1:02? It looks like a coastal scents brush, is it a pencil brush?
Celina says
No worries π Yep! It’s a Pencil Brush from Sigma, but I think the coastal scent version would be very similar! (though I haven’t personally tried it before, just based off photos)
Tanya says
