If you haven’t heard of BB (Blemish Balm) Creams before, they are basically a foundation, moisturiser and sunscreen cream all in one and are extremely popular in Asia. Often they can contain anti-wrinkle, anti-acne or whitening properties. Whether they live up to these claims, I have no idea because the ingredients and most reviews for them are always written in either Chinese or Korean, languages I can’t speak / read (Don’t judge me, I’m an ABC aka Banana).
Hanskin is a Korean brand and one of the leaders in BB Creams, so seems only suitable to give them a shot. I’ve been wearing their cream for a decent amount now and have concluded that this isn’t the cream for me.
Upon application, I think the formula was a tad thick, but still applies easily with my fingers. The coverage is nice and light and feels fine throughout the day, but the amount of shimmer in it just put me off. I know it says glossy, but made me look like I had been dancing in the club all night aka oily and even sweaty.
I think this would be perfect if used strategically to add a bit of glow to certain high points of your face for that lovely glow. But put it all over your face and you may find yourself applying a stack of powder.
That said, what did amaze me was the level of oil control it had. Ironic, right? It makes you appear oily, BUT it doesn’t become any oilier during the day. When I powdered my face, my face stayed exactly the same for the next 10 hours. I didn’t have to touch up or anything~ Very odd, but pretty cool behaviour.
I also must add that I do quite like the smell of this cream, it’s strangely refreshing?
Overall, this isn’t a bad BB Cream, it’s actually quite good and would certainly be suitable for certain types of people. I am just not that type. If you love dewy skin, give this a go~
My turn! Have you tried BB cream before? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the review. I absolutely love reading BB cream reviews for one reason or another. Hanskin is also one of the brands I’m totally curious about! Have you tried Hanskin’s Super BB? I have it but haven’to opened it yet =p
I am ABC also, but instead of Australian, I was born in Cali :p haha I just thought it was funny when you wrote you’re a banana π

Yay! I’ve tried Hanskin Super BB, I prefer it over this Glossy (hope to get a review out soon), it gives a more matte finish with a very subtle shine and I think the coverage is slightly better too π Plus I love that it has SPF in it! π
Lol yes! High school has given me soooo many interesting / weird terms to refer to myself as XD; All in good fun π

I heard about BB cream, but never really tried it. I hear that some BB cream has a greyish tone, some are sticky and thick. Unfortunately it’s kinda of hard to find the right and perfect one for your skin. I know that Dior and Bobbi Brown recently came out with their line of BB creams but available in Asia. I wish BB cream could be import here in the US soon.
Celina says
Yes I’ve noticed the greyish tone too for some of them, I’d say about 50-60% of them have it, which is why you need to make sure you use only the smallest about and blend out. The consistency whilst semi-thick is very very blendable and seems to work really well into the skin. Most brands only issue 1-2 shades, but I think since it is so sheer it tends to just “tint”.
I’m keen to try more, they just seem like really interesting products to use and if their claims are accurate, would be a great asset to any makeup collection π
They are slowly starting to stock it more in Australia, very slow though, and painfully expensive π‘ You can always try online stores like sasa.com or yesstyle.com if you wish to order π

I tried Missha’s BB Cream because my East Asian friends recommended it (I’m half Thai half Australian) and it made me break out horrendously! My friends then joked and said it didn’t work for me because I’m only half Asian lol. I wish it had worked because it shortened my morning routine since it’s sunscreen, primer, and foundation!
Celina says
Ooh! What type of skin do you have? I’ve always wanted to try Missha because I’ve heard so many great things about it, but I hope it doesn’t break me out ;_;

I have acne-prone combination skin which gets oilier during the summer and drier during the winter. I bought the BB Cream while I was on vacation in Vietnam and the lady in the department store did give me a sample but it was a one-time use sample so I couldn’t tell that it would make me break out after one use π If you can, find some samples first π
Celina says
Ahh okay, I’m combination but not acne-prone so maybe it might work for me π Thanks for the tip, I shall try and hunt down more samples <3
