Sorry for the lame title, I fail at humorous or interesting titles π‘ If you haven’t noticed, the “cracked” nail polish look seems to be a raging trend amongst the top nail polish brands this year! A lot of them have naturally introduced the black version and I thought it might be interesting to do a bit of a comparison.
Note that I don’t own all the black shattered polish there is in the market, just the three I have below. If you want a comparison with other brands in black, let me know what they are and I’ll see if I can find them easily.
The 3 polishes I have up today are:
OPI – Black Shatter
China Glaze – Black Mesh
BYS – Cracked Finish Black
I don’t know the exact prices for all of them, but I’d a stab in the dark would be OPI and China Glaze sitting at around the $16-18AU mark and BYS being around $6-7AU.
China Glaze – Black Mesh
OPI – Black Shatter
As you can see OPI and China Glaze achieve very similar results, but BYS seems to give a completely different look both on my nail wheel and on my own nails.
I think I prefer the design on OPI and China Glaze, but BYS’s version sure seems interesting! Note that the BYS formula seems to be a lot thicker than OPI and China Glaze, even after cleaning off the brush. Hope you found that semi-entertaining π

I’ve been trying to find the OPI black shatter and the China Glaze version all over melbourne. Where did you find them?

I purchased mine online at TransDesign, but in Melbourne I believe David Jones stocks the OPI version (hopefully not sold out) and Crush Cosmetics stocks China Glaze (currently sold out though) http://www.crushcosmetics.com.au/nails/nail-polish/china-glaze-crackle-glaze. I would consider looking into eBay if all else fails π

How did you get the look with the OPI and China Glaze? Did you just put random brush strokes or did you polish the entire nails and it cracked that way? BYS looks a heck of a lot like Croc Effects by Barry M.
